AvMed Health Plans AvMed Medical Insurance Claim Denials Internet

Almost a year ago I lost my job and my medical coverage. I searched for a medical insurance plan that I could purchase on my own. I selected AvMed which is a South Florida based medical insurance company. The company required me to complete an application and performed a detailed medical background check on myself and the entire family. They agreed to provide me coverage and quoted me just over $500 a month for coverage. In November 2011 my wife went to a doctor for back pain that she was having and paid the $30 office visit co payment required. The doctor submitted a bill to Avmed for the balance owed which was about $125. AvMed to date has not paid this minor claim and has recently denied the claim. After she went to the doctor, AVmed held the claim to investigate for possible pre-existing condition as they call it. Even though my wife had never been to this doctor and has no history of back problems, no acceidents, etc. They asked my wife to prove that she doesnt have a pre-existing condition. How do you prove you don't have a pre-existing condition? Even though this company collects over $6000 a year from me, they still can't pay a small $125 claim.



Stay AWAY from AvMed, if they can't pay a small claim, how can anyone count on them for larger claims.
