Geico is so huge that they are just not able to provide adequate service.  Every agent seems to have a different story!

My pay dates changed and I needed to alter my due date for my premium by six days, from the 6th of the month to the 12th of the month.

I emailed them several times and was told this was imposable, then when I told them I would be leaving they decided it was not imposable.  This is after like 6 emails and two or three phone calls.  They claimed that the had to re-write the policy and they had no choice because it was a law.  A claim disputed by my new insurance agent.  They wanted to charge me a fee of nearly $50 to make the change.  I told them NO.  The agent put me on hold and came back and told me that she could make the change for only a pro-rated premium for the extra six days.

I paid the premium plus the little extra and thought it was a done deal.

Then the next month I got a bill for over double my premium.  I emailed them and let them know that it was there Final Notice to keep there agreement.  Some guy called me and kept trying to "Explain" the fee to me.  I kept telling him I did not agree to the fee, it was never part of any deal I had made with them and I expected them to make good on there original deal.  He attempted to "Explain" it to me again, like I didn't understand his nonsense explanation the first time.  I hung up on him mid-double talk.

Then I called AAA, I got a better policy for less than $6 more than the geico policy and I get a real agent who can actually help is issues arrive.  The new agent said there is no law requiring a re-write to change a due date.

If the big, impersonal Geico actually saved a substantial amount of money there crap might be worth it, but I spent way more than the six dollar difference arguing with them waiting on hold and just feeling frustrated.

Don't use these idiots, there are many insurance agents out there ready and willing to provide you with excellent personal service.

Good For You

AUTHOR: Ex-employee - San Diego (USA)

AAA is a smart company and they treat their employees well, you should be happy there. A lot of seniors would leave GEICO for AARP to save money. For the younger, Wawanesa insurance is really good for those in California and Oregon. They don't spend hundreds of millions in advertising on a mascot to condition children to buy GEICO insurance when they are older.
