On 11/18/2008 I tried a service from AOL called System Mechanic. Within 10 minutes of trying the product, I saw that it was not able to help me with my computer problem and canceled the service. I received cancellation confirmation on 11/18/2008 11:01:21 AM EST. The service fee of $4.99 was taken out of my account from November 2008 to May 2009. I had to cancel my ATM card tied to my checking account so that no fees could be taken after they promised on 11/18/2008, 3/6/2009 and again on 5/18/2009 that this service was canceled. Because of this $4.99 fee, my account bounced for $1.94 and subsequently bounced twice more for two other items. I called AOL and then e-mailed them. They confirmed that I had in fact canceled the service each time listed above, but would only refund the last two months fees in the amount of $4.99 each month and I would be stuck paying the bounced check fees in the amount of $99.00.
