Buyers Edge - United Marketing Plan Scam for Discounts of Local Businesses Internet

I was contacted on my phone by someone who said that I had ordered something and they were calling to confirm my information. They stated the last four digits of my bank debit card and my name and address. They told me they were just confirming my information so that they could send me the "discount" package that I had ordered. I told the person that they were talking to the right person but that I hadn't ordered anything. I started to question him about it. He said that I had placed the order on January 2, 2008.

I told him no. I had not placed any order. I said he better cancel it because I hadn't ordered anything. He told me he could give me the customer service number but that he would have to tell me some things before I could contact them or " I wouldn't be in the system and they would not know what I was talking about". So I listened for a few seconds and he was rambling off what was included in what I was purchasing.

I ended up hanging up on him and calling the customer service number. I tried to complain and tell them I hadn't ordered anything but they said I had to " wait 5 - 7 business days before I could cancel". I went to my bank the next day and cancelled my debit card. I had not been charged but I wanted to let people know not to be duped by these scam artists.
