Getty Images Ripping Off Small Companies New York New York

Since 2005, Getty Images has been sending small companies invoices in the thousands of dollars for web images that most of these companies got on a template CD. Common wisdom has been that this is a ripoff scam. Many have replied that there was no copyright infringement of images, and no knowledge of infringement. Being good citizens, these companies immediately removed the images from their websites. I am one of those small companies and today I received a phone call from a collection agency representing Getty Images. They asked for $1200 USD for an image I received on a CD. I had replied to them of the situation. This was against popular advice that stated if you reply then they will know you are vulnerable and pursue you. Everyone should band together and NEVER purchase Getty Images again!!!! Put this company out of business. We have done it before as a group. My company owes Getty Images nothing ,and I know other small business owners who were so intimidated they paid. STOP THIS COMPANY. I know there is a parent company, but fight if you can. Ripping off the back bone of the United States is WRONG!!!
