Grant Funding Search (The Grant Professor) refuses to refund me money that they took from my account due to a 7 day trail period clause.

Be Warned. They do not follow appropriate business practices (i.e., the customer is always right). I missed contacting them by one day to let them know that I did not want their services and they refused to refund me my money.

My defense is that their website was not specific on when the 7 day trail period begins. I had logged onto their site one late evening on 1/15/2009. I figured the start date would be 1/16/2009 since it was late and no one would be able to process my cc for postage until the next day. I did use their website the first two days of the 7 day period (1/16/2009 and 1/17/2009), but found it not useful and had not used it since.

They started the count down from 1/15/2009 rather than 1/16/2009. Thus in my view started the count down of 7 days a day earlier. Thus the 7 day was reached 1/22/2009 rather than 1/23/2009.

I have a problem with internet based companies having the ability to do these automatic charges after trial periods. They should have to send confirmation emails to verify a persons desire to subscribe to their services post any trial period. There should be a request for subscription verification, not the other way around, that is that the consumer has to remember to call them to cancel any such subscription.
