I recently had issues with my PC which required me to remove all the internet protection software. Soon after I was inundated with error messages claiming my computer registry was in error and to go to registrycleanerxp.com to relieve the problem. I'm not going to ramble on about how I went through all the motions of downloading the software but to simply say - THESE PEOPLE ARE PIRATES. DO NOT SEND YOUR MONEY TO THEM.

Fortunately I am more suspicious of these scurrilous marketing activities than most and having worked with computers for 20 years have some knowledge of methods these criminals use to rip off "Joe public". I am not sure if registrycleanerXP exists at all and if you downloaded some bogus software from their website, then PLEASE do not run the software as it more likely to cause damage to your system.

Unfortunately it is unlikely that they will be caught quickly as it possible to set up, via the internet, any number of misleading addresses. One of the posts here claims this is coming from Texas. I'm not sure how the writer got the information but you can be certain its another goose chase.

The very best thing consumers can do to is to protect their PC with a firewall. There are many professional ones on the market for around $100 and a number of free firewalls which do a very good job. While I was connected to the internet today I received no less than 83 popups in four hours from the same "company" (albeit different websites) and once I pulled the internet cable out, VOILA ! - no popups. The messages are being sent directly to my PC via the computer's ports. A firewall will prevent the computer being attacked this way, so get a firewall asap.
