My step daugther came up to my room one day very excited that she won a FREE iPod. It had a claim number flashing in the background. My first instinct was this was a phishing website and I ran our Phishing filter, no results came up. I proceeded to follow the instructions entering my name, address, phone number and birthday. The website then directed me to multiple webpages with offer on them saying that I have to sign up for at least one.
The problem was I kept going through these offers and it never brought me to a confirmation page. Then my suspicions came up again and thankfully I found the complaint from Chris in Sacramento, CA. For those who were subject to the same scam, I offer the following advice.
-File a complaint
-Add www.yourgiftpro.com to your Block list (I put it on our McAfee Privacy Sevice)
-Make sure any privacy software that you have is up to date.
-VERY CLOSELY WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS, BANK ACCOUNTS, ETC. FOR ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY!
