Had internet service installed in Feb. System would shut down or unable to get system up at all. Called Serv. Dept. would have to send tech out to troubleshoot. Took 3 wks to get someone here as I live in the middle of Wyoming and the original installer refused to come back, had to find another provider.
w/in days back to same on/off problems, offered 2 wks credit and would again send a tech out. This took 10 days. I had called a total of 8 times in 2 1/2mns and decided that the third tech visit either fix it or I would cancel. Tech stated that it appeared that I had just gotten a bad system but he was not authorized to replace it and his fixes seemed to be temporary.
Sent letter to home office in Germantown, MD and advised that since they could not honor their part of the contract-"providing me with service", then I was no longer going to pay and cancel my contract. Upon hearing nothing , I called the serv dept and they wanted to give me 1 mn credit, refused to understand that money was not the issue; they could not give me the service. Well, out came the beast, I was told that I had signed a contract and I would have to pay for an early termination and then the issue of the equpiment.
I contacted the credit card company and filed a complaint. I sent them a copy of the letter that had been sent to HughesNet. They agreed and refused to allow any more payments from my account. Now it has been referred to NCO collection agency. Contracts go both ways. My next visit is w/attorney to see what I can do? It's time that the "little guy" pushes back when the Big Companies decide that things go only their way.
