I was a victim of debit card fraud. I signed up to be a secret shopper told them i was under age before signing up; found out it was a scam; canceled my membership and specifically asked the teller "this is the only thing i have to cancel right?" He said "yep your all clear thanks for trying it out."  Little did I know at 17 years old, they had handed out my card number to 4 other merchants who were stealing my money out of my account for crazy things such as some boat insurance and ,i don't own a boat. I called one merchant who said they would cancel my account and two of them were linked so she closed both and told me it was too bad i didn't cancel sooner cause i would not get my money back.....   By this point I'm really upset and there is no written contract for any of this because it was all over the phone and the Bank (Chase) refuses to help me any further until i get written proof of cancellation dates which are impossible to get because these companies were stealing my money from November of 08 until i caught it in July of 08 and canceled my card number and now I'm stuck.

Actually you gave them permission to charge you

AUTHOR: Laurie - Haslet (U.S.A.)

If you go back to the website and READ the terms and conditions - you will find that is clearly disclosed as required by law that you were also signing up for these membership programs.

Most Adults do not bother to read them either.

That is how the scam works - get you to sign up for one thing at little to no expense and enroll you in WORTHLESS membership programs that no one will sign up for if they read the terms and conditions.  They count on you not reading them
