On 7/21/04 I purchased a Soyo Dragon PrX400 Socket 478 Barebone Blue from Tiger Direct. It was advertised as having a final price of $39.97 after mail in rebates. This seemed like a good deal to me so I ordered it. I then downloaded the rebate forms from TigerDirect.com.

One of the forms said I must log onto OnRebate.com in order to claim my rebate of $40.00. I proceeded to follow the instructions at this site and got to the STOP! Confirm Your Email page. Here I was informed that I had been sent a Confirmation Email and that I needed to confirm receipt by either:
a) clicking the link in the email
b) entering your tracking number in the box below.

The problem is that, despite hitting the resend email button 3 times, I never received the Confirmation Email. I then sent an email to NOEMAIL@onrebate with my name and email address. I still received no confirming email with tracking number.

I then sent numerous emails to webmaster@onrebate.com , noemail@onrebate.com and status@onrebate.com. I received no replies to any of these.

I decided to then try starting over from the beginning at the website in the hope that it might go through this time. After filling out all the information again (which I fear is going to result in spam in my inbox) I was unable to submit. I was getting a message that my email address already existed! STILL no confirming email from them.

I then sent a new set of emails to inform onrebate of the problem. There is still no response to any of them. I decided to go back to their website to see if there was any way to contact them other than email. Now all I could get was a page with the message “Server Error in ‘/' Application”!!! After several tries I gave up. I figure that the site must somehow have logged my IP address and wasn't going to let me back in!

When I finally tried much later I was able to get on the site. This time I figured I'd try again my other email address at excite.com in case the problem was with AOL. STILL unable to get a confirming email from this apparently fraudulent site. This letter is going to the Illinois Attorney Generel, the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Affairs Deptartment. I'm sure that I'll at least get a response from one of them.
