Hughes provided the only internet service available in my area. I was a faithful customer throughout my 2 year business contract and paid $199.99 per month for "business service". I was a regular home user customer for at least 3 years before becoming a business customer.
In May 2011 I discontinued my service as I had fulfilled my contract and had other, better options available. My first issue was that I called in Jan and asked when my contract was completed and told that it was going to be completed in May. I later found out that was a lie the contract was finished in Feb.
Issue number two was that it took several calls and a couple of hours on the phone to get a refund of the unused portion of my prepaid monthly charge. Which I did finally receive.
Issue number three. I was contacted by Hughes Net and told if I send back certain pieces of equipment they would refund $200. I returned the equipment as instructed on June 22, 2011 and the received it on June 23, 2011.
I still haven't received the refund and after spending over two hours on the phone with multiple customer service reps I finally got them to commit to refunding the $200 as promised. I will be surprised if I actually receive said refund.
My take from this experience is although I had no problems with the service, dealing with Hughes Net customer service is a time consuming and frustrating experience. I would never purchase their service again unless I had no other choice. Looking for a refund or credit....don't give up but be prepared to spend hours on the phone.

To be fair Hughes Net did refund the $200 they promised. It only took several hours on the phone. My advise "Don't give up". Their "customer service" reps make you spent a long time on hold and if you are still there when they get back to you they put you on hold again. Put them on speaker and play or work on your computer, hopefully on your new, better, internet service provided by a better company.
