Peoplepc- RIPOFFS!!! 6 months fraudulent charges to credit card -- after account closed ISP / Internet 'provider' Internet

I had used this dial up service for 3+ years; I went to broadband in December, and in January received notice from peoplepc that the credit card they had on file for billing expired 1/09 and they asked me to provide current credit card billing -- I responded that I would NOT provide updated billing info as I no longer wanted the service and that they should cancel my account instead.

Within a few days, my e-mail was disabled, and I assumed (yeah, I know...) that the account was cancelled.

However, I have just reviewed the last few months of my husband's AMEX account, and we have continued to be billed for this service as late as last week.

I got them on the phone and they said "we only accept cancellations by phone, so you shoudl have read that in the service agreement" and refused to acknowledge that the account was cancelled, and even argued that the account was 'very active'.... while I had them on the phone, I used my current e-mail account to send an e-mail to the old e-mail address.. and it was returned saying 'inactive / user unknown' -- when faced with that info, the 'supervisor' advised that it must be an old e-mail because the account was still active.

I did advise the woman that I would be reporting to AMEX for fraudulent charges since they were not given authorization past the expired card and all charges should have been declined.

TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW --- these people are CROOKS... plain & simple!!!!
