America On-Line AOL Refusal to cancel temporary membership Internet

To cancel your temporary membership requires that you PHONE America On Line and be subjected to long holds and an incredible sales pitch. My "customer support representative" actually demanded that I not interrupt his pitch! I declined and hung up after about 10 minutes on the phone, identifying that he had all the info necessary to verify and cancel my account.

I then e-mailed AOL enclosing the same information. They replied that I MUST speak to a representative, and that my membership remained in force. A reply to that billing e-mail address was not accepted -- they use a NON-RESPONDING address!

I have now demanded via a different e-mail address a snailmail address to send a registered notice. If they fail to provide this I will simply send my notice to the President. I am contacting my credit card company to ensure that any attempt to withdraw funds by AOL will be blocked.

THIS IS ATTEMPTED FRAUD!! DO NOT DEAL WITH AOL!!
