I was on aolversion 5.o two years ago. aol continued to deduct $12.90 from Feb. 3,1999 until now, 11-23-2002. I called to cancel and try to get a refund. They said they could'nt refund any money, but the would be glad to cancell for me.
My cancellation number was #480324691, on 10/11/02. They assured me that there would be no more problems. WellThey didn't cancell and they are still deducting out of my checking account and causing it to be overdrawn.

I' ve just recently received my bank statement in the mail which is sent monthly. Most times I don't read it and after a period of time just throw it away to clear out the garbage accumulating in my mail box.
This time ,I did check it and found out that your company has been billing me for services that I cancelled last year at some point and time when I changed over to cable service for my internet needs.
I can't afford to have this happening to me . I aleady have enough banking charges coming out of my accounts now. Reading your complaints from other former account holders I see a trend of accounting oversights on your part. And it should be addressed and stopped immediately. I would for the record like all funds taken out of my account returned ASAP!
And last but not least, have my account cancelled , never to be touched again by any represtative of AOL in the future. I do expect an immediate response to my request and hope everything will get storted out ,never to happen to me or any other accounts.
Thanks for all the innconvenince, and I appreciate your cooperation.

All I want to say is "Thank You" for having this on the internet! I signed up for the "free trial", but couldn't figure out how to gt out of it! Luckily you had the phone number to call them. I had e-mailed them a few times about cancelling, but they never returned my e-mails.
Thank you again!

I have tried several times since 12/03 to cancel on-line, talking to a rep in person and faxing requests to cancel my account to no avail. AOL continues to withdraw from my checking direct withdrawal 9 months later. I would have to cancel my account and reissue all of my other accounts to be able to cancel on my end. Seems built into their Customer Service Rep response to make it as difficult as possible to have customers cancel their account. I manage a media services company and take every opportunity possible to voice my negative opinion of AOL.
