Don't sign-up for Napster's Free Trial if you are looking for music for your iPod. I'm sure for the experienced and savvy users that download music already know that Napster's music only works on certain compatiable players. However, for the new iPod buyer and not-so-savvy computer person, it will cost you to be anywhere near the Napster website.

This poor customer service story happened to my friend who is not so computer savvy.

Bottomline: He went to Napster website, clicked on Free Trial Version and downloaded some songs. It took him several calls to friends and more reading to discover that the songs will not work on his iPod. He ended up with two charges on his credit card, one for songs and one charge for a monthly membership.

I thought it would be no problem to call Napster, explain the circumstances, and request a credit since there was no value and no service received.

My experience has been that a high-type reputable company would gladly issue the credit. However, Napster doesn't work that way. I talked with a supervisor and basically their attitude was too bad you didn't read ALL the fine print and too bad you didn't know what you were doing.

Looking at some of the prior reports about Napster on this website, it shows that others have had similar experiences with Napster's customer service.

Consider this another BUYER BEWARE story.

Works fine for my Ipod.

AUTHOR: center of attention - Malibu (USA)

Hmm.. That's interesting. I have an Ipod and I put Napster music on their all the time. At this point, I'd say I've bought at least a hundred songs from them.

Napster's music is not proprietary which means it will work on different types of MP3 players with no problem. But, on the off chance that maybe your friend's Ipod is an older model or something, your problem should be with Apple, not with Napster.

As for the possibility of a refund, there's no way Napster will do that. Even if the song won't transfer to your friend's Ipod for some weird reason, the song will still work on his PC.
