SBC YAHOO DSL ripoff termination fees even though reason for termination is that SBC does not offer any phone or DSL services in my new home city Sacramento California

I moved from Altadena, CA to Long Beach, CA in mid April, 2004.

I called SBC to forward my home and DSL numbers to my new city, but SBC reps informed me that SBC does not offer any services in Long Beach, CA. So, I started new phone and DSL services with VERIZON.

Today, 05/10/04, I got a bill from SBC for $200 "termination fee" I called their customer service, and Vivian from SBC explained to me that since I 'terminated' the service before the one year anniversary, that I was liable for $200 'termination fee'

I should not be penalized $200 for SBC's inability to service all consumers, whrevere they choose to live!!

I never saw any statement or bill warning me of the $200 termination PENALTY. Moreover, I DID NOT end the service, SBC refused to service MY PHONE AND DSL needs in my new city, even thouugh I moved 36 miles away (from Altadena to Long Beach) and within the same County (Los Angeles)!

SBC DSL and YAHOO should not be allowed to ripoff consumers like me, who are penalized for these companies inabilitty to service ALL areas!

SBC DSL is not acting in good faith! I would have kept my old home home phone number and DSL line, but SBC DSL and YAHOO do not do business with consumers who reside in my new neighborhood in Long Beach, CA.

I should not have to pay the outrageous $200 termination PENALTY!
