I purchased Skype service for 3 month to give it a fair trial period. I double checked to make sure I did not check any boxes for continuous service when I signed up (as I always do on any website). I used Skype for about 2 months when I realized that the service (like most Internet Telephony Service Providers) was unacceptable. On most occasions I had to call back more than one time to complete my calls as my voice would fade in and out. I am on a high speed cable service so I thought this service might work for me. It did not. Since I never signed up for continuous service, I had no reason to cancel the service. Prior to my 3 month subscription expiring, Skype withdrew another 3 month subscription from Paypal without my authorization. I sent in an email (Dec 19, 2009) indicating that I never authorized payment and that I expected a refund, especially since first subscription had not lapsed yet (expiry date Dec 22, 2009) and the request was sent in prior to the new subscription kicking in. I received 2 emails from Skype, one indicating that they automatically renew all customer subscriptions for their customer's convenience and secondly that they were very sorry to hear I was having problems and I would get my refund within 5 days. It has been 17 days now and I have no refund and Skype customer service is not longer responding to my emails. So at this moment, Skype has my money, I have no Skype subscription (which I do not want) or refund (which I do want).
By the way, I sent in a complaint (request for resolution) to Paypal and they decided, within about 2 hours to close my case and not give me a refund. You should be aware, that eBay is a part owner of Skype and also has ownership of Paypal. It makes me wonder why Paypal closed my case so quickly and judged in favor of Skype!!!!
One last item, there is no telephone contact information for Skype anywhere on their site. This is pretty funny considering the business in which they are purported to be involved. Usually I avoid companies without telephone contact numbers as I am usually suspicious of their service or even, their business practices. This was obviously a lapse in my judgment. Don't let it be yours too!

Issue Resolved

AUTHOR: Neal - (Canada)

After sending a third, strongly worded email which was copied to my legal representative, Skype support finally answered my email with assurances that my missing refund was an automation error (which doesn't quite explain why 2 of my emails never received a response) and that they manually submitted my refund to Paypal. In fact, the refund immediately appeared at Paypal shortly after their email.

This issue is resolved to my satisfaction.
