I recently put an item on eBay up for sale (which I do alot). Well the item sold, and immediately I knew this buyer was trouble. Apparently it's one of these people who bids but doesn't read and as soon as the auction ended, the next day I got an email asking where to send the check.

Well, I only take Paypal and it states it on the listing. Two days later I finally received payment from this person via paypal and begin the process of packing up the item. Well being that it was a holiday and I'd be out of town until the fifth of July I email my buyers and advise them that items will go out after the holiday. My ads clearly state that items are shipped within 5 business days, and this item was still within that spectrum.

On the 5th I get an email from the buyer stating that they needed it for the 7th. I to a degree understand the persons argument for cancellation and wanting to void their bid I also acknowledge that my listing states 5 business days to ship and 7-10 days for delivery. ALSO, this person never stated they needed it rush and expedited shipping.

So I email back and negotiated that I'd issue a partial refund for the item but not the shipping and handling cost. Buyer never emailed me back to dispute this and I issued the refund. Well today, 2 weeks later, I get an email from Paypal stating that this person is disputing the whole amount because she never received the item.

I called Paypal after writing my side of the issue on their website to speak with a rep. I discuss with her that I issued a partial refund already and that this buyer was advised about it before issuance and that I never received an email arguing those refund terms. Well this person tells me that Paypal will end up giving the buyer her money back because I didn't ship the item and that despite and emails or arrangements made with the buyer I owe her that money. She also states that emails will not hold up in court. SAYS WHO? Emails do hold up in court, they're shown as evidence everyday.

Now I'm stuck with an item that needed to be liquidated weeks ago and I have to resell. Pay more fees on because Paypal and eBay won't refund and this person gets away with it. Whatever happened to actually reviewing all the facts. Why does a buyer get to dishonor a contract and the seller have to suffer? I am officially removing all links with my checking accounts from paypal and will close my account once this dispute is over. I think I'm going to open a merchant account with a credit card company, MUCH easier.

I feel your pain

AUTHOR: Michael - New York (U.S.A.)

Paypal are a bunch of creeps. I sold a phone on craigslist and accepted paypal as payment because So I thought they were a safe method of payment. So I am payed for my phone and give the person the goods. Four days later the creep goes and puts a chargeback to his CC company and paypal freezes funds in my account. They say I am liable for the funds even though the person has my property!! Screw paypal and they can sue me!! I won't pay them shisters a single cent.. They love to hold the seller accountable because they don't want to pay for investigating the matter.

To Michael from NY

AUTHOR: Sandra - Bloomfield (U.S.A.)

Mike I joined eBay and Paypal a few years back and never had any problems. Lately, it seems there are nothing but deadbeat buyers, scammers and idiots on eBay. Since eBay bought out Paypal their service has been nothing less than horrible. Since my posting I closed my checking accounts that are linked to Paypal (which is a bigger burden on me) and am now looking into opening my own online store with merchant company (NOT A MIDDLEMAN).

The sick part is when I closed my account I was told other customers had closed accounts because of similar issues of Paypal wanting to hold sellers liable for fraudulent activity by buyers, which is HIGHLY unfair.

I am a single mom and living on the minimum and selling on the internet on my spare time is how I make extra money, without it I couldn't afford to be on my own. They need to alter their policies and offer sellers more protection or someone needs to really sue their butts off so that they'd learn their lesson.

Craigslist has worked well with me since I don't usually have to ship items but even those I have haven't been an issue.

AUTHOR: John - smithfield (USA)

I had the same thing happen to me had a guy buy the product and it was delivered  the guy kept the product and did a charge back on his credit card so he stole the product and my money and paypal helpped him do it. Not knowing what credit card he used I was helpless to protect myself and paypal stole the money from my account.

UR lucky they stole my 5yr biz & claim i owe thousands!

AUTHOR: justiceadvocate - Myrtle Beach (USA)

I understand everything here..it seemed ebay turned on the sellers and we were the ones making them money. It wasnt fair when they changed the feedback rule either where the seller cldnt post negative FB!

You should read my story-be careful-dont link 2 bank acct or credit cards, they have the power to suk u dry, wipe out ur accts connected and then claim u owe money-however much they decide and if u dont pay u will be turned over to collections-u can settle with collections but if u dont pay the amt they want u will not be allowed access to paypal or ebay EVER!

I lost thousands, merchandise wasnt returned, broken, they never credited my acct and now theyre saying i owe them about $6000-after I left 2K n acct 2 cover expenses-they took that and say i owe another 4K-impossible-I never owned that much stuff or sold enough merchandise to get to that amount.

3 of the supposed disputes was from a paypal employee..i smell setup.

Good Luck-I say get out while ya can!
