Zales Diamond Store, Zales Jewelers, Zales Corp., Zales Colleen Cost - store manager, Bob Shine - regional manager. All the complaints on this site are true - they ruined my engagement ring. Bloomington, Indiana

"I am livid, I am sick, my blood pressures is throught the roof, I can't sleep at night, I burst into tears and am suffering from depression and anxiety now"! "There is no justice in this world". Why I'm confused is, I guess they botched the repair job on your engagement ring AFTER you told them NOT to repair it, but WAIT. "I wanted it replaced ENTIRELY. If you wanted it replaced ENTIRELY, what do you care what they did to it? You were going to get an entirely NEW ring. What were the grounds for the replacement? I hate to tell you but, IF it was damaged AND was covered under some type of insurance, they don't have to replace it ENTIRELY. Just like car insurance, they have to put it "back" to where it was "before" the incident, otherwise everyone would get a new vehicle after every accident. You also might try getting on some meds.

Since you took it to Colleen and Bob and demanded replacement instead of repair.  What does your fiances purchase papers say about warranty?  You cant demand more than the warranty covers. 

Also, if Colleen and Bob had to take your ring elsewhere, they are not real jewelers.

I told Colleen absolutely no repairs that I wanted total replacement BECAUSE I was afraid they would destroy the ring - which they did. They already exhibited that they were not trustworthy after they did not inform me they cracked the stone. She said she only wanted to show Bob the ring. She pushed and I relented and stipulated it was not to be repaired. Colleen even had a statement that the ring should not be repaired but replaced by a REAL jeweler. Bob came to the store and TOOK the ring WITHOUT my permission after this - and gave it to a butcher who IS the jeweler|repair person they use (it's probably himself) - who ruined the mounting and stuck a piece of glass in it and tried to pass it off as real. My complaint IS with ZALES because this is the playbook ZALES uses from the top down, dear - go read all the gazillion other complaints from all across the country like this one ;o) I can demand that Zales replace the ring because all of the damages were caused by their willful negligence, carelessness and unethical business practices - their contract|receipt states they are obligated to replace under these cery circumstances. This is what they refuse to honor.

I really think the Feds will want to regulate the diamond business now that they see how horrible ZALES treats it's customers. They might as well be selling bad cars.

Your complaint is with Bob and Colleen.  If they were real jewelers they would not need to send your ring out.  ALSO according to you Colleen and Bob cracked your stone? 

Maybe, just maybe, your fiance is saying it was a real diamond but it really wasn't.  Diamonds don't just crack. I am curious, do you have real papers that show the original stone was in fact a diamond and not a cubic or something? 

Colleen Cost and Bob Shine are managers at Zales - this IS where they work. They destroyed the mounting and called it a repair - and this is why I told them NO REPAIRS from the very beginning. I now understand all the reasons why Zales is notoriously infamous for ruining jewelry, swapping out stones, lying to customers, stealing and damaging personal property. Unfortunately for me - I just found out too late - but who would imagine regional management would go so far as to actually STEAL the ring in order to ruin it even further by destroying the delicate milgrain, and shoving a piece of glass into the spot where they stole the original stone that was in it?

If Bob and Colleen are Zales why would they need to take the ring to Zales?

I think Zales goes above and beyond. 

Personally, I work hard and often forget to take my rings off.  My engagement ring, thankfully I always notice when the stone is loose before it is lost. 

The first time I brought it in for repair, Zales said I could leave it, I said I would rather wait and watch the repair because our priest blessed our rings and I heard of stones being switched.  Zales lets me go in the back and watch the repair. I have been in back watching the repair many times (only 4 prongs hold the stone in).  

Either way, you sound like a nut case.  First they stole your stone and replaced it with another, they they broke the stone.

If Colleen finds this, she can go after you for slander on so many levels.  Not only are you trashing her name but you are posting photos of her?  Are you so dumb to not realize that she only works for the company? 

Zales gave me an incorrect ring size for my future wife's engagement ring. After the proposal, we had it resized. During this process they ruined the band, but offered to have it replaced. it was an annoyance, but we agreed because it needed to be fixed. So, when the new one came in, they reset the diamond but then resized the band back to the original size!!! when we talked to them about it, they tried to give us the run-around and said that continually resizing the ring wouldn't affect the safety of the rocks. what a load of bull! finally we forced them into getting us, again, a new one.

According to you, you wanted the stone replaced,  then a jewlery store with thousands or stones, replaced it with "Glass". Where in your story does they cracked the stone come in?   

Maybe would you find someone to believe you if YOU DIDNT YELL AT EVERYONE who responds.

Why do you insist that anyone who disagrees with you works for Zales. Again, I haven't worked in retail since 1978 and I never worked for Zales. I worked at a Bozo Hot Dog stand and the Hardware department at Sears.  I have been a stay at home Mom and Grandma since 1978.

Hmmm how pathetic ... "Bozo hotdog stand worker" those are all the qualifications you'd need to be a manager or otherwise at Zales. Their staff know less about jewelry than the average bozo - which is NOTHING. 

If the ring was cracked they were obviously trying to work out a solution for you.  I can't imagine they would replace the stone without it being a diamond if it was in fact a diamond.  Are you sure your fiance didn't give you a white saphire? If it was in fact a diamond and they replaced the stone it would have to be a diamond.  Did you ask them to diamond test it in front of you? If the stone was cracked then why didn't you want it replaced? There is no need to replace the whole setting if there is just a single stone.  If it was within 100 days why not return the ring for a full refund or ask for one for that matter.  Zales has District Managers and Regional managers you can call and speak too.  Every experience I have had at zales has been great and no I do not work for the company.  I am sure you will accuse me of that based on your track record here with other people who commented.  I understand why you are frustrated because the ring is special but again make sure you are educated on diamonds and jewelry when shopping and or dealing with it.  So many people just want a shiny stone and have no idea if it is real or if its actually quality.  If your fiance bought you a cheaper ring there could be imperfections in the stone you are viewing as cracks.  I would look at the cert. that came with it because if it is in fact a certified diamond with a photo you can use that documentation to prove the condition.  If you didn't buy a certified diamond it is in fact a cheaper stone to begin with.  Hopefully you do not scream and yell at people in the store like you do on here because they can in fact throw you out.  Malls are private property and you may end up getting yourself banned from the mall entirely.  I have seen it happen.  You can insult other peoples income and education but I have a masters and make 6 figures.  If I was to buy a diamond I would go to zales but I would be sure to loupe my diamond and watch them test it if it was being sent out for repairs. Good luck in your future purchases and make sure you are educated on gems and how the process works in each store before assuming they will do whatever you demand.  Everyone has policies.
