My husband bought a necklace before christmas and was told that if we were not satisfied, we could have a "cash refund" with receipt, within 30 days.
On Jan 4, tried to return necklace and was told "we just had a couple of refunds, and I dont have enough money in the cash register to refund you now, but you can try back later." I did try back later, only to hear the same line.
The next day, called 3 other Zales locations to ask if I could return the necklace for a cash refund and was told, "we just had a couple of refunds and I dont have enough cash...." Almost word for word...the same line at every store location.
Have since tried two more times on two different days to ask about my cash refund...was told (you guessed it!) the same line!
Zales advertises to be the "Largest Jeweler in North America" but cannot refund the necklace at the purchase price of $105.00.
What is wrong with this picture?

I work for Zales, and I actually had the same situation happen in my store. Every Zales Store ONLY has 300 dollars in petty cash, which means we cant take out of that. If a Customer has a return, but we have no money to give, then we offer either 1) A Gift Card or 2) a GO CHECK which will be issued to you in 2 wks. This is ALL per corp. So its not a "line" we give our customers, its the truth!

$105? They should have refunded that. Zales is supposed to offer cash refunds for purchases $200 or less, it is actually printed on the receipt. You shouldn't have had to go through all of those changes for $100.
