I am responding to the rip off report made against me in 2004 as being a "slum landord". This is the one and only report made ever against me. I have been involved in property management over 20 years and have never had accusations made against me until this tenant's concerns.
For their information, if they felt like such a victim, they should of had the courage to take me to court. I did all the right things based on our lease agreement and I followed all the rules set up in the agreement. I gave them the property in good condition and it was to be returned to me in the same condition beyond the normal wear and tear.Before they moved in, the previous tenants were returned all their full security deposit so that gives you a clue.
The claiment failed to tell you of them being negligent and burning floor candles with soot stains across the ceilings and walls, the stove damage from using abrasive cleaners which removed the finish, the overgrowth of the yard, which was their resposibility, the infestion of bees on the home and additional structure and which was a huge expense for bee removal and repair. They stated about paying $300. for an air condtioner that was broken; yes it was broken but not broken when they occupied the unit because the filter had not been changed in 2 years and it burned out. I charged them $175.00 not the $300. they stated. There were too many other charges that I will not go into.
I will gladly give tenants their full security deposit when the property is returned in good condition because then I do not have to do any additional work or repairs. I would not be involved in property management and be successful for this length of time if I was doing something right.
