Construction crews Promised work on foreclosures to be paid by Banks they were affiliated with. But first had to pay 99.00 for a background check, if passed the backgound check work was to begin. No work at all. San Jose, California

I received all call from my Craigslist add that a company called Construction Crews needed landscape contractors to clean up foreclosures for the banks who owned them. I was told I could expect to receive 3or4 of these a week. To get these jobs I first had to pay 99.00 for a background check. I paid the money and never received one foreclosure. This company is a scam!

I just spoke with this company Construction Crews, Inc. about 2 hrs. ago. I had them to email me their details so I could check them out. First I find they are not a BBB accredited business, I could not find them anywhere, so you know thats not a good sign. Second, we do work for FNMA,HUD,Wells Fargo, and others and have never paid any kind of fee up front. If there ever is a fee it just comes off the top of your bid pricing. Third, I have never heard of this Rip Off site and got here by mistake and saw what happened to you. I am so sorry this happened to you, but I am very thankful you posted about it. I was starting to think maybe I was just being a little over board with my skepticism, but glad I was.

I'm soo glad that you posted here! I run Craigslist ads all the time and get a lot of crap and with Constructioncrews, I get 2-3 emails PER week telling me that they have "landscape" work available for me in my area and that a work order can range from 2-4 work orders per week... I called them and to my surprise I got a young lady on the phone explaining the process to me. Something didn't seem right either, so I searched a bit and got nothing. I thought it was funny too because banks never pay a "finders fee". I contract work from a few real estate agents in my area and they get the "go ahead" from the bank(s) to get bids on jobs. The bank then plays the bid, and there you have it... Work!
I'm soo glad that you both had something to add here. I'm a husband to an amazing wife and father to 4 crazy, awesome, and way cool kids, not to mention a landlord and small business owner. I think that regardless of how much you have or, don't, it is still harsh to loose any amount of money due to a scam. What can we do about this?
