Many people have shared their experiences regarding First IRS Legal Department. Some of these experiences are discussed below:
Claiming to sue: According to a guest in the forum, First IRS Legal Department called them claiming that they were preparing to sue, and asked for the guest's home address so they could file the proper paperwork. First IRS called again later, asking if the guest would be home that day because a process server was scheduled to serve him that day. However nobody served the guest. Learn more...
Calling at home and at work: Another guest claimed that First IRS called him both at home and at work and told him that they were filing a Federal criminal case against him if he did not make any payments. Find out more...
Threatening to charge consumers with fraud: A third guest stated that First IRS threatened him over the phone and told him that they were going to press fraud charges against him if he did not pay the money. When he asked for their address, he was put on hold. Find out more...
Calling even after filing complaints: According to a community member, First IRS Legal Department continued to call her even after she filed complaints with the State's Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission. They called her and left messages that said if she failed to call back within a certain time, she will get arrested. The member even claimed that they cursed her over the phone. Learn more...
Calling the debtor's relative: Another guest said that First IRS Legal Department had called the person's sister and informed her that the guest in the forum was being investigated for check fraud. However, when the person tried to call back the debt collector to give him the attorney's number, the collector refused to accept it. The next time the guest spoke to the collector, the collector stated he represented Cash Jar. However, Cash Jar had never heard of the collector. Find out more...
How to tackle First IRS Legal Department collection agency
The steps outlined below will help you deal with the collection agency in a better way.
Check if the collection agency is real or is just a scam: Ask for their name, phone number, address, and the name of the original creditor. If required, send a debt validation letter through certified mail or fax.
Don't give your account information: Don't be afraid of handling the collection calls, but avoid giving away your bank account information. Otherwise, there can be an unauthorized withdrawal from your account. Also avoid giving out any other personal information.
Record calls: If your state's law allows you to record calls, you should record the collection agency's calls to use later as proof. If your state doesn't permit you to record conversations, then keep a written log of what was said, who you spoke to, and when you spoke to them.
Get a written agreement: If the debt is validated by the collection agency, get an agreement in writing that the account status will get updated as "Paid" on your credit report as soon as you pay off the account.

The original person says they are calling about bad checks but didn't say they never wrote a bad check.

Luckily my nephew and his family were at a friends house for dinner 4 blocks away. Their home and 10 year old furry dog child are just gone. Next door neighbors died and my nephew feels guilty for asking where he can buy water to drink.
