I own and operate a specialty site on the Net. Northshore Process Service requested my services on my site via online application.

I did the work they requested and invoiced them for my services.

Two months of benefiting from my services and they decide that they want to renegotiate or they wont pay me.

I billed for services rendered at their request so I was not about to renegotiate what was already past due.

Their payment deadline was at noon on January 5, 2006.

Of course, they did not pay and left me out $2,329.43 or should I say, 2,378.02 as of January 6, 2006 due to a 1.5% monthly late fee and an Express Mail charge.

If anyone has any dealings with Northshore Process Service Based out of Illinois, get your fees up front! Do not make the same mistake I did and let them take you for a good chunk of change.

Before anyone recommends it, Yes, collections and suing them is an option that we are keeping on the table. This post is to make others aware of the poor business practices that they decided to follow and maybe prevent someone else from being burned.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

AUTHOR: William - Birmingham (U.S.A.)

Northshore Process Service - Northshore Process Server

I also forgot to mention that Northshore Process Service is a company normally hired to find people who skip out on their debts, serve legal papers to those being sued for not paying their debts and research ones financial backround in order to find assets that can be seized to pay off the unpaid debts.

How ironic of them to stiff me when it came time for them to pay their bill.

Sounds a little like the fox guarding the hen house!

#2 Consumer Suggestion

File Small Claims Now

AUTHOR: Carl - El Cajon (U.S.A.)

Now it is time for you to follow your own advice. Small claims court is very "user friendly" in most states. Of course, it is pretty ironic that you will probably be hiring a competitor to serve them with the lawsuit.

Re: File Small Claims Now

AUTHOR: William - Birmingham (U.S.A.)

Carl,

Thanks for the input.

I was hoping that I could avoid having to take it that far and would still be willing to settle the matter amicably if Northshore Process Service would own up to their responsibilities. Northshore is supposed to be a fairly large company and I thought reputable. If I would have suspected that they would renege on their bill, I would have never done the work they wanted in the first place.

Anyway, I will probably run it through a collection process first and see what happens. Then go from there.

I wouldn't wait.

AUTHOR: Carl - El Cajon (U.S.A.)

In my experience, going the collections route is of limited value. With a pending court date, you will find the money will come a lot sooner. A collection agent can only make phone calls and write letters.

Northshore Process Service

AUTHOR: William - Birmingham (U.S.A.)

Carl,

You are probanly right. Thanks for the suggestion. I will consider that option a little more and start looking into the process.

For anyone else out there:

If Northshore Process Service headquartered in Evanstan, Illinois requests any services from you, "BEWARE"!

Do not make the same mistake I did. Regardless of what they claim their policy is, Get a deposit or your full payment in advance.

Northshore Process Service employees all seem to go by the title of Associate Director and they use one central email address for everyone. (Which is quite odd)

Northshore Process Service ????

AUTHOR: Walter - Somewhere (U.S.A.)

I would go after them with a vengeance. It is that kind of arrogant behavior that gives the industry a bad rap.

Did you check to see if they were even a legitimate company before you started work for them?

I was unable to find any indications that Northshore Process Service is even licensed to perform the work they advertise in the state of Illinois. The individuals that are related to the phone numbers do not appear to carry licenses in Illinois either. I also noticed that Northshore Process Service is advertising all over the internet stating that they conduct services in every state, that could very well be against a number of state laws.

I tried their phone number over 20 times throughout the week and never had a live person answer the phone. Their fax machine never picks up.

Just from the little bit of looking that I have done so far, I would be Leary of any business relationship with them.

If I were you, I would get to the court house and file suit before they close up shop! If you have enough to prove your claim, getting a judgment against them should be no problem.
