Anchor Self Storage Ripoff Dirty LYING thieving ripoff PIGS Paramount California

I began doing business with anchor self store in the spring of '99 and was compliant about keeping up my payments on time. About two years ago an incompetent employee claimed that my storage unit had been broken into, that the lock was missinig and that they would send me photos so that I could determine whether or not anything had been tampered with.

This incompetent employee even stated that it didn't look as though anything was missing but when asked how the person would know this when they didn't even have any idea what was in the unit to begin with, a logical explanation couldn't even be provided.

Instead, the employee just offered to sell us, my husband and I, a new lock which we purchased. The photos were NEVER sent to us about this until a year later. This past Feb. Erma M, the manager of Anchor self storage, suddenly claimed that we had a late fee. My husband had always sent out checks for the facility on the 9th of EVERY month to avoid late fees since rent is due on the 14th of every month. Erma confessed to seeing a check floating around the office earlier that month but had no idea what happened to it and said she would phone me back that same day but never did.

Apparently, they had misplaced the check in the office but cashed it the moment they found it and wanted to hit me with a late fee for their own blunder in spite of the fact that we have shown them records PROVING them wrong.

I filed a complaint against them with the BBB and my husband sent them another check the following month that was made out on the 9th and this time, they sent a letter that I just received yesterday (March 24, 2004) and this letter of harassment stated that if I didn't pay them $69.25 by March 25, 2004 they would put a lein on my property. When I spoke with Erma M by phone regarding the unwarranted charges, she claimed that her records show that I owe $79.00, she mentioned having heard from the BBB and stated that their portfolio mgr, Trisha wasn't willing to drop the charges and all she could do was phone Trisha at their corporate office about the matter and review the records herself.

When I asked Erma for the phone number to the corporate office all she repeated was that all she could do was review the records herself and speak with this Trisha person and for me to call her back tomorrow (Friday, March 26, 2004 at 2pm). I informed Erma that I would be taking them to court over the lien and selling of my property to which she said OK. With all the money we've spent on that storage unit since '99, there's never been a problem like this. I don't appreciate being harassed for money I clearly don't owe and I will not be falsely accused in this way. I've recently had a c-section (erma is aware of this too) which makes it impossible for me to do much moving about since I live in NV and Anchor Self Stor is in Paramount, CA. They should refund $1,000 or more to me for all this. If they sell my property, I want every cent they've made off it.
