i bought 2 brand new yamaha phazers from snake river yamaha and was offered the "extended warranty". it was expensive but i finally decided i should get it. it was for 3 years.

well with only 500 miles on one it started over heating within the first 10 minutes of a ride. we would have to shut it off wait for it to cool down, top off the fluids and call the trip off because it would keep doing it within just miles.

it is an hour and a half drive from my house to the dealership. i dropped it off they had it for about a week called and said it was fixed, i drove the total of 3 hours to pick it up and get it home just to have our next trip go exactly the same way. this happened 7 times in one winter. spring came and they said it was fixed but we couldn't test it to see. the next fall i took them both in for the pre season maintanence, they said everything looked great. tried to ride it and it was exactly the same. jerry the head mechanic tore the engine apart to investiget further and found nothing. on our next try we made it our typical 10 minutes before it overheated. we let it cool down topped off the fluids and tried to ride it back but the clutch exploded!!! we had to tow it back. when i took it back to the dealer jerry told me someone must have FORGOT a part when they put it back together.

they paid for and installed a new clutch and said they rode it 20 miles and everything worked fine, but on our next test drive the engine BLEW UP and once again we had to tow it home.

i talked to steve the owner of the company about trading it for one that worked. he completely blew me off and told me to talk to "turbo'',  after sitting there for an hour turbo informed me i would have to pay 2000$ for the difference on a new one!!!!! i told them that since they hadn't fixed it in 2 winter and infact it was getting worse everytime they tuched it they owed me one that worked. he said that the warranty was through yamaha directly and they would "go to bat for me" and ask yamaha. after waiting for a week for an answer i called yamaha directly and explained everything to them. they told me that the extended warranty was through the dealer and they didn't offer one. so they LIED to me about the warranty info!!

the entire engine ws rebuilt by them and now seems to be working. the waranty is up so i hope it is. i hauled it 300 miles round trip a total of 11 times to try and get this resolved and was treated like i was lying about the problem every time. i paid payments on 2 snowmobiles for 2 years and couldn't go for more than a 10 minute ride. i would NEVER encourage anyone to spend there hard earned money at snake river yamaha! i wouldn't trust there mechanics with my lawn mower.
