I too had the same thing happen to us. At first we received a messed up invoice that was hard to even read that stated we owed over $5,000.00 for two vehicles that they at first stated we never sent tags back to them when we moved...which we did. We called and told them this and they had one person say the tags never came back, the second person said the tags came back and we needed to get the proof that we had sent them and who bought the vehicles in question for which we stated who keeps records of all of that from at the time, 13 years ago? The reply was that everyone does. I asked do you and the person stated they did. I said for them to send proof then that this occurred with dates from 13 years ago and the reply was that their system does not go back that far. I asked for someone over them to speak with. They in turn said they received the tags but there was an insurance lapse for which I asked why then did it take 13 years to let us know of this for which the reply was that they couldn't find us. They said to ask my insurance for proof. This is all little towns, none of them went back that far and they never heard of anything like that and had no idea what to do to help me or what to do to get these insane people off of our backs. One, when we moved we had an address change...two we have moved twice since and always had an address change and three DMV should be able to find you anywhere through your drivers license. Basically I told them when they get all of their proof to send it to me with dates and times etc. for the vehicles we had then are vehicles we let go of then. I don't remember who bought them after all this time. I didn't hear anything for a time and now I get in the mail a printed legible document stating MVA Insurance lapse but one is for 1334.97 and the other is for 1441.44? Still nothing that proves anything, but it states if I want it investigated, I need to come up with all of the proof for them including origional dates and papers plus those that bought the vehicles with dates and signatures. What is this world coming to? It has been almost 14 years now...How do you fight something like this where it is impossible to get proof when they can't even get proof? I believe this would have been an issue way back when not now...Now they say they are going to take our State taxes when they come in...to pay for this craziness that isn't even ours and everything was taken care of in a timely manner back then. This world is getting sad...
