I have an terrible experience with a local U-HAUL Center today and the follow message was sent to the U-HAUL Corporate Office:

I went to this U-Haul center to rent a pickup truck and open trailer and the manager trainee, Lester Lopez, was the representative to help me. First he mentioned the pickup charge for $19.95 and the trailer for $14.95. He DID NOT go over anything else including mileage charge or how much will come up together.

Then he asked for my credit card and driver license. He put my cards next to the computer and looked like start to do some entry, but he DID NOT really complete the data entry and he started to get me another paper on a clipboard and asked to step outside they lot to check on the pickup to which I'm going to get.

When I went back inside and assuming the paper should be ready, Lester told me he could not find my driver license and credit. After searching for almost 30 minutes, he still could not find my cards. But he only told me "Things happen, things happen!" And keep telling me that "It's nobody fault." I called the Oakland Police Department then and reported for lost credit card and driver license, and the credit card company to report for lost credit card.

They told me right the way my card was charged for two purchases for more than $2800.00 already. Mr. Lopez heard that but he DID NOT even apologize for his mistake. No help was ever offer then! I believe the whole thing is a plan. I don't know if the same situation ever being reported to the U-HAUL Corporate Office, but the way Mr. Lopez handling the transaction is very suspicious. Seen the store do have an internal camera working all the time.

I demand you company to do a throughout investigation and get me a satisfy explanation. Also I demand a official apology from your company. Copies of this complaint will be sent to all local newspapers first thing. I am very sure U-HAUL do not allow any of their employee to involve in any criminal activity. I would like to bring this out so no more consumer will need to go through the same thing ever!

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Customer care departments will most likely shove your paperwork to the bottom

AUTHOR: Sara - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 03, 2003

Dear consumers,

I have been reading quite a few of the letters sent to the rip-off report. I understand that in the heat of passion people get angry and write off the cuff, but in instances where you, the consumer, are writing a negative claim to a corporation special care should be given to grammar and content.

Customer care departments will most likely shove your paperwork to the bottom of the file if you have not taken the time and effort to sound at least semi-intelligent. The more time you take, the more time they will take. Make them sweat. Proofread everything several times and even have someone else double-check your paper for errors.

Trust me. The same person can write one letter with several mistakes and write another one perfectly and I guarantee that the second more accurate letter will receive a response. Most of the complaints above have been so illegible that I almost don't understand them.

Please follow these rules. I have and I have received nothing but follow through from my corporate complaints.

Yours truly,
A happy customer

U Haul is RIPPING me off too

AUTHOR: Lacy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 25, 2003

I know how you feel!!!

I am having a huge debate with U-Haul as we speak, what happen was I went in to rent a U-Haul put my credit card down to hold it and left, when I came back I found out U Haul had released the truck to my roomates friends who were unlicesened driver and did not have permission to take the truck.

These people ended up keeping the truck for 8 days and I was told I had to pay the bill of $510.00. Not only that when U-haul said they were going to bill me they said they would send my credit card and I never recieved either. Now 4 months later I recieved a past due notice but still not credit card.

Also the day I went to get the U-haul the girl at the counter asked for my Driver's license, credit card and social security card as a second form of idenification. I however did not feel comfortable with giving my ss card so I did not but i find it hard to believe it is standard proceedure to ask for a person's ss card for a form of idenification.

To me it sounds like conspiricy to committ identity theft. So now I am trying to fight the $ 510.00 charge and locate me missing credit card. if anyone has any suggesstions please post your info below so everyone will know...
