 No reputable breeder will endeavor to  produce these sickly, short-lived (but cute) freaks. It’s sad that so many small breeds are suffering from  the reprobated idiocy involved.

 It’s all about money with wanton disregard to the breed. Want an  inherently sickly dog with multiple deformities and a short, miserable  life? Buy a 24oz. “teacup”.

We're gathering as much information as possible on the breeding and brokering of these so called teacup puppies. Ms Puppy Connection or Boutique Teacup Puppies is just one of many brokers who purchase their puppies from large breeding facilities in South-Korea.

My comment is for the person who filed this complaint? Please also file a complaint at the website of C.A.P.S. Companion Animal Protection Society, because every complaint there will be taken seriously. If you bought a puppy via the internet, this is the form to use:

I just want to add to the previous poster's great information.  The AKC does not recognize "teacup". In essence, this word may be used to describe the size, but there is no such thing as a "teacup chihuahua" or a "teacup Yorkie".  Any reputable breeder will tell you this, so do your homework.

Yes, I'm very familiar with breeds, etc. I know there is no such thing as a "teacup" breed. I understand that. However, many people (mother, two sisters, grandfather and two best friends) I know have very small pets, less than 5 pounds, that are very healthy, older than 5 years old with the oldest being 8 years old and healthy etc. I did more research than you could imagine, especially before making such a large investment. My issue is that I was not told the truth from this particular vendor from the start and that's what I was trying to communicate. If I was able to see a report like mine before I dropped thousands on a dog, I would have maybe reconsidered or looked locally, etc. I did not know the dogs were being purchased overseas until I had already made my payment which is required to move further with this vendor. It was made to seem that they were local and even stated that on the website that they used the best local breeders. Regardless, to say I love and care for my dog very much is an understatement. She is a beautiful dog who has an amazing personality and is my absolute best friend. Like I said before, this was just to warn someone who may be lured into purchasing a dog by the information that is listed or conveyed by mspuppyconnection.com. My puppy did not look like the pictures when I received her which lead me to believe the photos were taken when the puppy was only a few weeks old and I was told they were "very recently" taken when I purchased my pet that was a few months old. I was also explicitly told the puppy would be 2.5 or close when full grown and that's clearly not the case. I understand that 8lbs is still small, but like I said, I could have paid a heck of a lot less money. This was false advertising. Thank you to the post that has the information to file a formal claim. I will do that. I would not have been upset if they would have been honest with me from the start. But to make all of these claims on the dog that are not true and then take thousands of dollars from people is not right. That is my intent in all of this, not to battle with all the people that want to stress there is no such thing as teacup, etc. etc. No matter how you slice it, there are small, healthy dogs out there, regardless of what you want to call them....that's what I was looking for and lead to believe I was purchasing.

No reputable breeder will ship a dog, particularly a puppy. Even parcels marked “live animal” can sometimes be put in the non-pressurized, non-heated luggage compartment of an airliner. Can you dig D.O.A.? A chance I would NEVER take with any animal.

Want a small mammal you can hold in your hand or carry in your purse? Get a pet rat.  Please take the time to: [1]  Visit the  breeder or at the very least, [2] Deal with a member of a local legitimate widely  recognized breeder association. Not doing so is very likely  furthering the disgusting “puppy mill” debacle. Pet store?  (To wit: In a mall) A very good source of unknown heritage puppy mill pets.

Find a local breeder. The local veterinarians can also sometimes be a source of referrals, both good and bad. Invaluable information about the breeder and potential  health of a  puppy can be a visit to the breeder’s place of business (or residence).  The “I’ll meet you on Wallyworld’s parking lot  at X:XX PM / AM”  for the pet delivery is a particular red flag. A safe bet is the fact the ‘breeder’ (or seller) lives in a filthy dump with rabbit cages out back in which the dogs are kept. I have personally witnessed (and reported) these types of operations. I have also witnessed sick puppies (the mass breeder has no time to nurse a sick dog back to health) taken to the barn on a one way trip to a bucket of water. Answering an ad: “XXXXbreed puppies for sale” will never disclose this disgusting side of the unscrupulous, uncaring side of the industry. Such is carefully hidden from a potential buyer.  Only by a somewhat nefarious means can this be witnessed. Been there-seen that.

As the other contributor noted, “teacup” preceding any breed is not recognized by any reputable association.   It can, however, represent a breeder whose best interests aren’t the promulgation of a healthy  breed of dog facing a normal life span of the breed.  

I do commend you for keeping and loving your precious furry family member, unlike a sick post I read on ROR where she demanded a refund and put the poor puppy back on the airplane to "ship it back" since it weighed too much.  She was still mad she never received a refund, without any regard to if the poor thing even made it back alive or was picked up at the airport!

Anyways - I'm posting because I cannot stand the mutilation of genes that that occur when people keep breeding the tiniest dogs, to get the tiniest results.  They cannot guarantee that the entire litter will be tiny - just like they cannot guarantee that in any litter there will not be a runt.  And by continually having the runts in litters reproduce to create more runts, well... - follow me?  These dogs in general are not the healthiest by nature.  Sure, they're precious and cute.   These Hollywood "starlets have made it "chic" to carry a dressed up dog in your purse while competing with who has the smallest and cutest dog.  Toy breeds often have a lifespan of 17-18 years - however teacup puppies often develop health issues that shorten their little lifespan.

This may be info you were not aware of - and you would be doing these pups a world of justice by helping to SHUT THESE BREEDERS DOWN!!!   At least you're spreading awareness thru your post.
