I've been tracking the endurance of my Bright Effects light bulbs (Item # 80424)(bulb number LBP15R30M2) for the past year and a half. These light bulbs are advertised to last up to 7 years. They are warrantied for 2 years assuming 3 hours of use per day.
My Bright Effects bulbs are averaging 6 months of light before they burn out. To be fair, these lights are in my kitchen and probably average 5 hours per day of use. However, 6 months is a piddiy amount of time compared to the advertised length of time of up to 7 years.
The physical quality of these bulbs is even shabby. The threaded portion of most of the bulbs is on crooked.
I do have one Bright Effects bulb (LBP15R302) in my kitchen that has lasted over a year and is still functioning. It's a different number than the ones I'm complaining about.
I feel I'm being ripped-off.

With Lowes as the title of this report, it seems as though you are dragging their good name through the mud for the crime of selling you someone elses light bulb. If you want more performance for the dollar on your Compact Florescent Bulb, you might try getting one at the Dollar Store. They might even actually exchange it for you a year later.
