Aurora Loan Services: Aurora wants my HOME and refuses to modify my loan... I qualify for the HAMP program... but they offer me nothing. Littleton, Colorado

I'm California and unfortunately Aurora is my servicer. I’ve been trying since Dec-08 to modify my loan and after a full 5 months of calling nearly every day they finally offered me a mod but it was $1600 more than I was already paying!

So in July-09 I applied for the Obama HAMP program which I fully qualify for both financially and home value wise but guess what…Aurora says there nothing that can do for me except to offer me a short sale.

I have the printout of the guidelines for HAMP from the US Treasury Department because Aurora says that’s what they go by. According to the guidelines my mortgage balance is less than $729K, my principle/interest payment, HOA, Taxes, and home owners insurance is greater than 31%, my LTV is far, far less than 105% in fact my home appraised less than my loan balance so I’m upside down.

According to Aurora they appraised my home and showed it has 66K of equity in it so therefore I have been denied. Aurora refuses to look at the financial hardship affidavit I completed and they refuse to look at the home appraisal I have as well.

I know all they want is my home because every time I speak to them they mention I should short sale my home. I have never once been late on any payments and my credit is spotless.

Why then are they refusing to help?

Do I need to ruin my credit to get help?

Isn’t the Obama HAMP program designed to help families like me?

According to the Making Home Affordable website they are participants in this program and accept government money doesn’t that mean that they have to help if I qualify?

Thanks to Aurora my wife, two young kids, and myself will be out of home within a year if I can’t get help.

When will Aurora be stopped from taking homes from families?
