The market went south, I being a in the escrow field saw it coming but had no control.  In the meantime, my husbands brain shut down and he was not able to continue to work in his field and will never be able to.  We had an income of approx. $8,000 a month.  We built our dream/house for retirement early as it seemed like the right time to do it in.  When my husband became ill, I had to have my 6th back surgery and during the recovery process for me, my company eliminated my position.  I have worked in this field for 21 years and they kept the less experianced people.  With no income to speak of and after being contacted by this company every day for 4 months we went to them and handed over the last of our money so they could work their magic.  They promised that it would be done by Christmas and not to worry about anything.  They were  aware of the issues at home and told me to just take care of my husband.  Well at Christmas instead of the modification, I was given the notice of default and the trustee sale papers.  By then I was so tired and mentally drained I went to bed for 8 days before I could get out of bed.  My husband almost killed himself and I didn't care anymore.  The Firm didn't return my calls and when they did it was just a bunch of lies.  By February, a friend of mine contacted my bank and did a modification for me.  We requested my money back but they acted as if they had done the modification and so I was not do any funds.  My mortgage company said that The Firm did nothing to get a modification for me.  We will end up loosing our home and everything we own at this point anyway.  My husband didn't make it and The Firm played a big part in this.  It doesn't pay to trust anyone.
