Today I got a report from some guy who wouldn't identify the company he worked for. I could barely understand the very thick accent so may not have all of the information correct. He said I needed to go to court over a payday loan he said I took out in December of 2008. When I pressed for details, he said the company was Cash Net Payday, and something about them being located in Texas. He went on to give me my bank account info, reference names, and my Social Security number. He said I had borrowed $220 and never repaid it. This was a huge shock to me as I have not ever received this money and barely even remember that I'd even considered doing this! I am being threatend with a lawsuit and was given a court docket number but was told I could get out of it by paying this money now. Fat chance!

I do remember completing one app only to be told they would get back to me, which they never did. I don't even remember the name of the company, so not sure it's even this one. I went to check my bank records once I'd gotten off the call and don't see anything for the first half of December in that amount being deposited into that account. I asked for the other portion of the statement and will have that tomorrow when I go pick it up at my local bank branch. Now this attorney said that Cash Net had sent me numerous emails, which I've never seen. I countered with asking why they didn't mail a letter to me since they have all my info anyway. The guy supposedly sent me to his supervisor (who sounded just like the first guy) and he eventually hung up on me. Granted, I was pretty surprised and angry. Oddly enough, I had received several messages on my cell phone over the last few months from this guy, but his English is so bad I couldn't understand him and assumed it was some jerk calling to sell me something! Pretty unprofessional all the way around! I 'm waiting to see what my bank says and don't know where to go from there. I feel this is a scam, and I don't like being threatened, or told to pony up $220 when I have no proof of legitimacy. I hope you or one of the forum members can suggest a plan of action.

It is a scam

However, I'd be concerned with what site you put your personal info on as it is corrupt.

CashNet Payday: Looks LIke A Scam To Me! Same Accents, Same LIes!

AUTHOR: Kathy - BEAVERTON (U.S.A.)

After researching further, and contacting an attorney, I am convinced that this is a total scam. I've seen a couple of reports from other folks on this forum that have the identical information I have down to the East Indian accents and threats to press the same bogus charges against me! I even called the number that appeared on my phone's caller ID to see if I could get hold of this guy again, and SURPRISE! today the number is no longer in service. Tried to get info on the number via reverse lookup, but I'm too cheap to pay the money for the report. It probably won't lead anywhere because these slimebags need to be caught, and I'm sure they're probably long-gone since I refused to pay or be terrribly civil to them. The number I have/had was 704 546-4387, it's a landline, and is in North Carolina. That's all the info I could get for free, but I'm going to forward this on to the lawyer tomorrow. I could absolutely prove no money went to my bank as I have all the statements for the time in question.

I have seen too many of these on Ripoff Report and I would really like to see these people get caught and get exactly what they deserve: jail for the fraud they are perpetrating on innocent people! If anyone has ideas on how we can do that, please speak up! I don't like seeing others getting hurt especially in these tough economic times. I will report this to whomever I can, but with so little information I haven't a lot to go on. If anyone has more info, make it public or see if the editors here can write something up for us. We have to get thiese guys stopped!

OVER A YEAR LATER AND THEY'RE STILL HARRASSING ME!

AUTHOR: Kathy - FOREST GROVE (USA)

Just got the second call in a week from yet another guy telling me he has my information and is going to "do something bad" to me.  At the end of the message, he says he "will pray" for me.  Totally unbelievable!

I have placed a fraud alert on my bureaus - again - and have changed banks so nobody has accessed my accounts as yet, which is good.  The harrassment is not so good.  This new guy sounds African, not MIddle Eastern.  Fortunately for me, the only number they have is a cell phone, which I may change numbers on, something I don't really want to do.  Oh well.

I am very frustrated that these people haven't been caught, but suspect they are changing phone numbers so rapidly that it will be nearly impossible to get them.  I even told the guy that called before the bank account info they have is on an account that is now closed, but they persist.  If it were legit, I'd have been to court long ago over it, so I am just updating to let others know it surely is a scam!!

Don't give these guys any information and stand your ground with them.  They give up for a while, but I am sure they will keep trying!
