I was stupid enough to get a $200.00 payday loan from these people in 2005.

I told them twice to go ahead and take the money owed from my account and instead of doing as I asked they took 3 interest payments of 59.00 each! I paid the amount owed and a whole lot more over the next 6 months until

I closed my account and several months later they started called me with threats that I owed several thousand dollars to them. Also, I was "guilty" of bank fraud and three or four other things.

I started screening my calls and they stopped after a couple months.

Come forward 2 years and here they are again, in 2007. Now I "owe" $7000
and need to pay right away. I ignored them and changed my cell phone carrier so after a hiatus of nearly a year they started calling me at work.

I wasted time trying to have a conversation with one of them once, the person refused to send anything to me in writing detailing my debt and I was told I had to send a Moneygram imediately. I don't send Moneygrams to anyone I dont know. I hung up and asked our receptionist to screen my calls and things were quiet for another year. Now they are back again and now they are calling the HR department. She sent 'em packing. I would like to know if these people have actually taken legal action against anyone, or do they just continue threatening?

Best of luck to you....

AUTHOR: Amy - Bellevue (U.S.A.)

I had the same situation with this company. Loan taken in 2005, they started calling home, then work in 2007. Stopped for a bit, then started up again in 2008. They called approximately 35 times per day and when I was unavailable they would call my assistant (my voice mail provided her phone number) and would tell her that I was going to be arrested, and she was working for a fraud, etc.
Before anyone write back "pay your bills and you won't have this problem...."... The terms of the loan were a $200 advance. Payments of $59 in interest bi-weekly would be auto-deducted and the loan could be terminated at anytime and the balance paid in full with a simple phone call to Interim Cash. After months of trying to contact them to end the loan, I had to close my bank account. They collected nearly $900 in interest on this $200 debt, and now state that I owe thousands of dollars.
Like your statement, they refuse to provide any documentation, etc. When quoted the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, they state that they are following the laws of the United Kingdom. After extensive research, I found that many of their calls come from the Dominican Republic, but they do have a business location in NV and one other I can't remember right now.
I was prepared for their call one evening. I recorded the conversation, which was about 30 minutes. I was threatened to be arrested, called a liar, called a fraud, told that I was stupid, etc. They claim that the loan I took was a verbal agreement recorded, yet refused to provide recorded proof that I took the loan. I disclosed that our conversation was recorded, which did not sway the man to stop his threats. All the better for me I guess! I then transcribed the conversation as it was hard to understand through his accent. I also had detailed notes of all calls, times of calls, etc.

I've turned over all of this information along with bank records proving what they collected, and proof of my many attempts to call and email them to terminate the loan to the BBB, Attorney General in my state, as well as NV and Federal. I also provided this information to the Federal Department of Banking and Finance. The BBB wrote back that after several attempts, they would not be able to resolve the issue as the creditor was unwilling to discuss the issues. The last I heard, the Dept. of Banking and Finance was still "looking into it".

I don't think there is much we can do as they are a foreign entity doing "business" in the US. Just keep good documentation and report them to the above groups. Maybe after enough complaints, they will listen. Best of luck to you and don't give them another dime!!!
