Vericrest Financial ESCROW Charge Internet

I have a line of credit with vericrest financial in January called to inquire what my pay off was on my account.  My billing statement stated $241.  When i called they stated it was 306 to pay off the account i inquired what was it so much they stated that i had $18 in finance charges and an escrow charge of $49.  I asked what the escrow charge was because on all my statement there is not charge for the $49.  They stated that it was for insurance that i purchased.  Back in 06 i cancelled my insurance but they billed me out and they sent that to vericrest.  Again i stated that i have no statement showing this charge and if they could produce one for me i would appreciate that because to me when i cancel insurance i expect it to be cancelled that month and not continue to be billed for it.  I believe this is  hidden charged and there for if i was never billed for this it does not exist and for them to pop it on me when i call to get a pay off is bogus.  I sent emails, i have faxed over letters, i have been told a manager will call me no one has.  There is an individual named Hazel at ext 2867 who put in an escalation it was declined still no manager call.  This is no a good business practive...yes $49 is not a lot of money but its the principle that they through this "escrow" charge when you call for a pay off.  Again i was never billed for "escrow" charge and continue to get the run around on getting this fee waived...
