DO NOT GIVE WELLS FARGO YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY; OR ANY BANK FOR THAT MATTER!!!!

About 4 years ago, I entered into an auto loan contract with the bank named Wells Fargo. The contract was for 60 months. Last year I lost my job and making regular payments were difficult to make.

By this time I had already paid off more than 80% of the loan and yet, they sent the repo man to collect the vehicle. I have to pleaded with family to get the funds needed to pay the bank so they would not take the car. That was all the life line I had left. Now, the loan is 90% paid but I am still out of work.

I called the bank and asked if they could settle the account IN FULL as I was not confident that I would find work within the next 3 months. I spoke to a settlement supervisor by the name of Nathan at ext: 41819 (1800-692-7191) who told me that “it was not good business to settle the loan seeing how the bank could make more money selling my car at auction”.

I pleaded with Nathan to consider my payment history sighting I have not been late on any of my  payments up until 4 years ago and that I was attempting to prevent any further defaults by making the request to settle the account. He replied sharply, “I’m not settling the account, it’s not good business”.

Since when are the banks in the business of selling cars??? Clearly I was wrong for thinking there is some philanthropic element to the banking system; clearly there is not. For all of you who read this – do not surrender your positions. Do not let the banks push you around!!!! Now is the time to recognize our rights and powers and exercise them vigorously!!!! DO not take out loans. If you are in default, or in hardship, do everything that is in your power to protect what you have. DO NOT GIVE IN, DO NOT GIVE UP!

MR. C, THE POLITICIANS IN THE USA OBVIOUSLY SUPPORT DECEPTION & MANIPULATION IN THE AUTO BUSINESS......

AUTHOR: Karl - Highlands Ranch (USA)

because they were against a bill to make auto dealers be more upfront and truthful when transacting auto loans with consumers in this country.

*Make sure to 'Google' this- ELIZABETH WARREN GRILLS GEITHNER, CRITICIZES TREASURY'S FORECLOSURE PROGRAM PBS, and listen carefully to what was stated at about 4 minutes 50 seconds into that video about Car dealers. (It's a 6 minute 17 second long video.)

Grow up!

AUTHOR: PayYourDebts - Florance (United States of America)

I can see why you're unemployed. It appears that you don't understand how the business world works. Why would Wells Fargo give you a discounted payoff? The supervisor is telling you that your automobile is worth more than the payoff so there is no benefit for Wells Fargo to settle the contract. Wells Fargo isn't going to settle the account for less than auction value of the automobile. Oh, and Wells Fargo doesn't want your autombile. Hell, they just repossessed it and gave it back to you. Doesn't that say something!? You think that just because you've been such a great customer over the years (give me a break) the bank should take a loss on your contract? Grow up! Be responsible and pay your debts like the rest of society.

I do find it fascinating that you've come into a bunch of money following the repossession of your automobile. Interesting, how a guy that isn't working and has no future prospects is so eager to cough up a lump sum of money to settle his debt. A debt that is likely current anyways since I highly doubt Wells Fargo gave you the unit back without collecting the past due amount. Unemployed? Smells fishy to me.

The bottom line here.

AUTHOR: Steve - Bradenton (U.S.A.)

The bottom line here is that the bank is a BUSINESS. A BUSINESS exists to make a PROFIT. The BANK is NOT a welfare agency. They do not care about YOUR problems. This is just REALITY. Your problems are just that. YOUR PROBLEMS.

Did the bank cause you to lose your job? Did the bank prevent you from saving some money for an emergency, like unemployment? YOU chose to live above your means and not save or invest. Did the bank set your life priorities? You could have let something else go and paid your car payment, or changed your living situation altogether.

There are always options in financial matters, but many people seem to "expect" a certain standard of living whether they can afford it or not. Time to grow up and face reality. Sounds harsh, I know, but that's what it is.

If that vehicle was my "lifeline" I would have let everything else go in order to keep it. That car payment would have been my number 1 priority, above my rent, utilities, internet service, cable, etc.  I would have sold off anything I could to make that payment.

Are you saying there was no "side work" out there anywhere you could do? Are you saying that there were no jobs at all out there that you could do? I don't think so. The fact remains that you had "choices" and made the wrong ones. No "rip off" here. You entered into a contract and then failed to honor it. End of story.

Typical..

AUTHOR: Robert - Irvine (U.S.A.)

Because you were such a great customer you should be treated differently.  After  all for 4 years you only did what you made a legal agreement to do.  Bravo two gold stars for you.

I find it very interesting how you didn't have enough money to make your regular monthly payment, yet had enough to offer them a "settlement" amount.  Well that really just tells us a couple of things.  Either your "settlement" offer was a so low it was laughable..can we say "Even though I owe $2000 let me give you $200".  Or you actually had the money and thought you could get out of your legal obligation.

Oh and as for them "making money" on a Repo, you are dreaming.  When a car is Reposessed it is eventually sent to Auction.  At Auction they get scrap value,  so they would be lucky to get 25% of Retail Blue Book value.  But even in if they "made money" on the Repo most state laws require the finance company to return any overage to the debtor(you).

By the way until you have the loan paid in full it is not your car.  A company can reposess the car if you made 59 of 60 payments, and went delinquent on the last one.

PAUL, AMERICANS HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THIS COUNTRY, BUT MOST ARE TOO LAZY AND TOO IGNORANT.......

AUTHOR: Karl - Highlands Ranch (USA)

to do so.

If every American simply cashed-in their retirement account now, and canceled their bank accounts with all of the publicly held banks, like Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase, US Bank, Citigroup, etc., then Americans would be making the changes that are necessary to fix some of the BIG problems in the USA.

Americans can pull all of their money out of ALL publicly held banks, including these- Goldman Sachs, BlackRock Inc., Blackstone Group, & Morgan Stanley, right?

If the bankers are creating many of the problems in this country, then Americans can simply pull all of their money from these banks, correct?

It's that simple!

I believe that ALL Americans should make a "run" on all of the publicly held banks mentioned above and put their money into locally owned & operated credit unions and banks in their home town.

It's 100% legal, correct?

You see, Americans DO have the power to change things, but most are too lazy and ignorant, in my opinion.

Good luck to you!

P.S. Did you know that BlackRock Inc. controls and manages about $3.5 TRILLION of money from Americans and other investors? Add that to what Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, & Blackstone Group control. You'll be shocked!!!

***Make sure to do some research on who the top executives are at each of the banks just mentioned, including Wells Fargo, okay?

RUN ON THE BANKS POEM

AUTHOR: Karl - Highlands Ranch (USA)

RUN ON THE BANKS POEM

They scam us they cheat us

Continue their pranks

Be angry get even

Make a run on the banks

They take taxpayer's money

But gave us no thanks

It's 100% legal

Make a run on the banks

They take people's houses

Eat our burgers and franks

Let's all join together

Make a run on the banks

This poem is over

Don't need missiles or tanks

Just shut 'em all down

Make a run on the banks!

End.

How long?

AUTHOR: Robert - Irvine (U.S.A.)

Really Paul..Bush has not been President over 2 years, just how long are you(and others) going to blame him for everything that is going on?

Remember, the current administration has done several things that were supposed to "fix" the economy.  Do you think it is fixed?  If you think only one person or one party is to blame are you really being honest with yourself?  Because if you were you would realize that there is plenty of "blame" to go around.  This not only includes both parties, but the people themselves who want to blame everyone else for their problems.

But none of that has to do with this "report".  Banks have reposessed cars for decades before Bush was President, and will be reposessing them after the current administration is long gone.  If this person wanted to they could get a job.  Sure it may not be a glamorous job, but it would be a job that could help make the payments.

Tax payers money...

AUTHOR: Striderq - Columbia (U.S.A.)

First of all Well fargo has repaid all of the money lend it by the federal government and all interest owed for that loan.

Second: this has nothing to do with your loan agreement with the bank.

"About 4 years ago, I entered into an auto loan contract with the bank named Wells Fargo. "  "I pleaded with Nathan to consider my payment history sighting I have not been late on any of my  payments up until 4 years ago ..." You got the loan 4 years ago and had good payment history until 4 years ago??? Hopefully this isn't what you really meant but what you've said is that you've had problems paying on time since you got the loan. And banks don't usually send out the repo guys for just 1 missing payment.

But she want leave me alone,  So I will say something back to her.  She has no business on here,  only to harass posters of complaints.

so sorry

AUTHOR: Chef - dorchester (U.S.A.)

Listen as you said you entered in a contract, The bank has every right to reposses your vechicle
sorry you lost your job and you cannot pay your bills, but that is your problem not the banks. This ]
is not a ripoff or a scam, you did not make your car payment so they repossed it. If ther banks
did this with everyone who could not pay their bills just settle and take a loss the econony would be even worse. If eveyone who's house went into forclosure or car was repossed because people were not making their payments this site would crash in about an hour. So stop looking for
sympathy, a well fargo did nothing but honor the contract. You dont pay we take the car away
also you asked family for money and they would not give it to you. Sounds like your credit history
with them is not good either

Sorry to hear about your problems Mr. C

AUTHOR: Steven - Jacksonville (U.S.A.)

I won't rehash the information that others have given you. The best thing to do is go forward with your life and see what opportunities come your way now.

Since you made a contract for 60 month payments I will make the assumption (maybe false)  that you live from paycheck to paycheck without much of an opportunity to plan for the future or set aside money for a rainy day.

When you get on your feet again and are ready to buy another car you may want to consider financing it for 36 or 48 months instead of 60. That way you will not be "buried" or "upside down" in case you have to sell it or something. Another option is to investigate any kind of credit life or similar insurance if you lose your job. My credit union has something similar that includes involuntary job loss. So if you are laid off (as opposed to being fired) the car will be paid off and you can keep it.  Whether or not you want to go that route is up to you. I think some people consider it a good idea while others think of such things as a ripoff.

Best of luck to you Mr. C try to be optimistic and not dwell on your problems. Have a positive attitude and think of this as an opportunity to make a better life for yourself and your family.
