Winfield Lending Group loan scam- possible connection to Oakdale lending Group Raleigh North Carolina

I have been looking for a loan and came across this site. They contacted me and said i was approved for a $5000.00 loan, but because of my credit i would have to pay the first five payments ($759) upfront, like a down payment. This would go towards my loan and my first payment would be due in May 2009. The wanted me to either mail a check or do a moneygram, after they receive the money the funds would be deposited into my account.

Something about this bothered me and i did some research and this seems very similar to another scam reported on this board for Oakdale lending. In fact when i checked out Oakdale's site they have the same logo as Winfield had on their paperwork. Anyway, i was told that this company has been in business for 10 years, but WHOIS shows the website dated as 10/2008.

My husband called them to ask some questions, he did not tell them he was my husband. When he started asking questions about the company the person on the phone at first was nice and answered the questions, but the more my husband tried to find out the more defensive the person on the phone got. They finally asked how he got their phone number. My husband said the website (their number is actually not on the website).

The gentleman called my husband a liar and started demanding where he got the number from. Not your usual response from a legit company. Also, the only paperwork beside the sign contract that they wanted was my drivers license. No proof of income? you would think they would want to make sure that i made the money i told them i did and that i could repay the loan.

Anyways, we decided it wasn't worth the risk and this company seemed a little to shady. Please be careful, I would recommend not giving them your money. It would have ruined us, if we sent them this money.
