We had a confirmed reservation from Midland car rental located at the Los Angeles airport. We took their shuttle to the pick up location only to find their desk was closed and everyone was gone.

Since they are located in the Radisson Hotel, the manager said they "usually" left the keys behind but no information, keys or car was to be found.  Having just flown in from NYC At 10 o'clock at night, my wife and I were standing on the street with all our luggage but no car and left to work this out on our own. We had to take a taxi to a REAL car rental agency.

Midland's offered price was better than the others but it proved to be a horrible mistake to have booked with them. They acted as a shill for other agencies, tricking us into booking with them but their office closes at the time we were scheduled to arrive, forcing us to pay 3 times as much elsewhere with no reservation.

I called their office and spoke to Mr. George Arevalo who told me that he was "sorry" (that, he is!) but refused to make any effort to make amends. He hid behind corporate legal gobble-e-gook stating that on P6 subparagraph B2, section C of the contract that is online( if you click on the proper link) it says that they are not responsible if their office is closed and you have rented a car from them.

Midland has a right to their business model. If you want to rent from them and see if you are lucky enough to actually have a car there when you show up, you are going to love these guys.

As for me, I spell 'ripoff'..... MIDLAND
