Ninenewyork.com is the latest incarnation of 9Chelsea.com, run by the same scammers.

“You do whatever you feel like you need to do.” “I have no knowledge of what you’re talking about.” “Did you read our cancellation policy?” “There’s no one else here at the moment to address your matter.”

These are the useless directives that I received from the individual who identified herself as Ellie Kay, the property manager of 9 Chelsea (now known as Nine New York) based in Broadway, New York when I called her to find out why she had charged us an additional $700 after our cancellation.

This was after our email conversations with her to get our initial deposit back. In our earlier attempts to reach her, she had been wholly unresponsive, and when we called her out for the poor customer service, she went nuts. She accused us of lying and said that no part of our initial refund would be returned to us, despite the cancellation policy stating 50% of the deposit would be returned.

After we complained about her not following their own cancellation policy, she made the credit card charge of $700 without authorization.

We have also filed complaints with the New York Department of Consumer Affairs regarding this incident of fraud and have left negative reviews on TripAdvisor.com, an online destination for travellers and alerted others to 9 Chelsea’s scam.

Interestingly after the online attention, 9 Chelsea then took their website down,and changed their name to Nine New York. This action indicated they were aware that they were committing fraud and were going into damage control.

It is disgusting that Ellie Kay, ninenewyork.com are still trying to hide their illegal actions.
