I was called by Mailbox Magazines during a nap on April 1, 2008. I groggily accepted the subscription to Time Magazine and the free watch. After agreeing, I spoke with the supervisor like much of you had as well. I received the letter confirming my subscription and called to cancel. They said it was non-cancellable and that they had me on tape agreeing to the terms. I asked to listen to the recording. After ten minutes in which I'm sure they thought I'd hang up, I heard my voice on the recording. So I felt trapped. I did not know about these phone soliciting call laws. I received the "free" watch, which I could've gotten a better quality at Wal-mart and my eventually my magazines.

I receive my Time Magazine usually every Saturday on time. However my two other magazines are not as prompt. And NOT the ones I asked for. I have received Home and Gardening, Parenting, Latina, and Conde Nast. I live in an apartment and have no intention of owning a "home" anytime soon; I have no kids and have no intention of having any anytime soon; I am African American; and I've never heard of half the people in Conde Nast so why would I order it?

I'm currently trying to figure out when my subscription ends or when I no longer have to pay $47 every month. They charged me twice one month in '08 which made my bank account overdrawn, which in turn cost me a $30 overdrawn fee. I called and disputed this issue with them and faxed them a copy of my statement. They said it was a computer issue and actually did pay me the amount I requested - the extra charge and the overdrawn fee.

Since I've been paying off medical bills for awhile and could use that money, I've been concerned about the legitimacy of this company. So I googled them on here 'cause amongst all my other bills, I cannot find the original letter they sent me. I tried to check my end subscription date on Time's website, but I cannot access my "account", so that has added to my concerns.

Has anyone successfully cancelled their subscription?
