My company uses Aramark for Dust Mops and Mats. We have used them for a long time because they are Union Employers although I have been with my company for a little over a year. I was appalled at the prices they charged and the contract was up last April and not only was the price negotiated (a savings of about $1050/year), but the length of the contract as Aramark wanted a 60 month agreement.(Negotiated a 24 month contract)
In April 2010, the price went up. It was not a large jump, but a jump. Called to ask why and complain and of course the service rep would get right back to me. Still haven't heard from him. Now, 2 months later, today the price has risen again, amounting to an annual increase of $912/year.
Needless to say, there has been another call to our "rep" who wasn't available and will call back.
This is poor business practice in this or any other economy and in 2011, when this "contract" is up, there will be one less customer for Aramark to say "Didn't read the contract" We did read the contract and are writing the company to say we will not accept the increase, as the contract stipulates. Shame on Aramark for their poor business ethic! Even a phone call from a rep before hiking up the prices to explain a situation would have been at least a bit more palitable. What happened to customer service??
