Dr. Tyson is a psychologist that a number of Mecklenburg county (and surrounding counties) courts refer people to for psychological examinations.
We found he is quick to take your money and is rather expensive, however slow to turn around any work product, sometimes in excess of 6 months.
In our experience we found his work product to be full of errors and contain statements which he implies are the results of psychological testing and facts. When critiqued by other professional it was stated state the tests he gave could provide the type of results he placed in his evaluation. His results and methods do not even come close to following APA guidelines.
In our experience he gathered no evidence to validate accusations, talked to no third party references and in general put in minimal efforts with little or no objectivity, often stating heresay as fact with no evidence to support his statements other than his opinion.
Research we performed showed that the tests he administered are of little value in truly determining a psychological profile as he does minimal testing, does not administer all the tests common in psychological evaluations and it appears he relies more on his opinion than data.
Our opinion is, if you know you will not fare so well on a psychological evaluation, and the opposing party does not have resources to hire a professional to critique the work, then this is your man. He will not find anything because he appears to put minimal effort in.
Our further opinion is, based on our experience, if you are in need of good litigation support, look elsewhere to one of the more reputable people with better credentials who will perform a more thorough assessment and provide a more credible work product

Do not use Tyson for custody evaluation. In our situation, children's mother had little to do with the children when they were younger while she was in hot pursuit of a wealthy attorney. She changed their school districts and filed full custody after re-marriage when kids are older and more independent. Tyson sided with her and put in father's evaluation exactly what she told him to. She stated that she herself was perfect so Tyson wrote that she is perfect but over-values herself and then recommended to give her full custody. This was four years ago. This mother has yet to spend one single weekend with the kids. Every Friday night she is gone and every weekend the kids are pawned off somewhere. She wants the kids anywhere but with their father. This mother found a judge to order their father to take the children to the step-father's church on the fathers weekend. Although she is the one that pawns the kids off every weekend she used Hanner/Tyson to get the judge to order that the father can't drink in front of the children although there was never any kind of conclusive evidence that drinking was a problem. Did I mention that the ex-wife also was in collusion with Fiancé's ex-husband and Tyson bought into all the BS? You would think someone qualified to do evaluations would see through all the scheming. Don't go to Tyson. Could go on and on.....

I myself had some sessions with Dr. Tyson regarding a custody/abuse case and concluded that Dr. Tyson nailed it. He and his colleague interviewed, extensively tested, observed board game playing and conversed with all parties involved. Their reports were detailed and acutely accurate and included their recommendations based on the testing and interactions. They never made what was already an uncomfortable, awkward situation, more uncomfortable, but instead were polite, well spoken and nonjudgmental. They never, as far as I know, upset my son in any way whatsoever.
I am thankful and grateful to the Tysons. Due to their testing, experience, and ability to discern the truth from her blind insanity, my child is able to have his father and my fight to keep him was not in vain, but was worth every cent. You can't put a price on something like this when they get it right.
I can only speak of my personal experience with the Tysons and don't presume to claim to know that they always get it right. I would hope that they do because when ppl in that position make mistakes it could be devastating to their clients, patients and families.
Your villains are my heroes because they saved my son and I from the real villainy that happens to run rampant in this country. The true scoundrels are the unqualified social workers, counselors and physicians whose jaded recommendations wreck the lives of innocent people and steal the precious, irreplaceable time that we should have with our children.
It is my opinion that we need more Dr. William Tysons and that only the most qualified people be allowed to potentially deal destruction.

I am in full agreement with the report filed. I still have not had results and it is well over 6 months. I can not get return phone calls or emails. I honestly am at a lose for words and can not understand how this kind of thing can happen. Better yet that they can get away it. The the truth is above and so far has gotten away with the money and no report! Please anyone who loves their child do all you can to stay out of this man's reach.
I know divorce is hard and you are most likely worn out from the entire thing. I encourage you to take all and any energy you may have a find someone else. Lots of heart break and tears has come from this. I forgive the man daily. I press forward as he is now requesting more money! Not much you can do after getting into with this group so please don't do it. Try to come to an agreement with your spouse and make sure divorce is even what is best for your family. This has been a nightmare that seems to never end! Try to work your marriage out and spare your family! This is surly not the answer working with this group!

This guy and his wife are for hire custody evaluators.. They make statements of fact without any supporting evidence or scientific basis. They dont verify any information, request any records, talk to any collateral witnesses, they dont even follow their own protocol. The make statements about parenting ability without even observing a parent and child together.
When people were using other evaluators who were more respected and more scientific Tyson had the nerve to file complaints saying the courts were showing favoritism and keepinghim from getting business. Dont let this guy anywhere near your custody if you are a parent in a battle where they other parent has dont everything possible to alienate the children and withhold visitation.
