I was pressure sold into purchasing a contract agreement for personal training at my local gym with Custom Built Personal training.I was over-sold with 4 sessions per month and contracted for the year.I was extremely hesitant because the contract said that in order to cancel you had to pay a fine and it was possible at the time that I could be facing upcoming layoff from work and would be unable to pay.The manager that was selling me at the time stated that it was no problem, that Custom Built totally understood the economy as it was right now and that if something like this happened they'd have no problem changing my contract or canceling it at any time should I be laid off or some similar life changing event happen.I was assured of this.

Now, I have been laid off and have contacted the local manager and head-courters in Atlanta customer service and not only was I told there would be a 250$ fee, regardless of what I was told at sign up, and also that if I did not comply they would send me to collections, ruin my credit and try to interfere with my relationship with my gym (InShape City) and my membership there.I believe I was over sold on my contract and sold it under duress and with misinformation and lies and now they're not willing to honor it - in fact with rudeness and attitude they said that I was given a contract and if I was pressured into signing it it is not there problem

I have filed complaints with the Better Business Beureu both in Atlanta, GA and Stockton, CA against the corporate and local offices of Custom Built Personal Training (Atlanta Fitness Inc.)

I have received notice from the BBB about my first complaint against the corporate office.  Custom Built simply did not reply at all or respond in any way to my complaint.  They did not acknowledge it, or even attempt to contact the BBB or myself.

I have not heard back on the local complaint.  I have additionally refiled complaints against "Atlanta Fitness Inc" their owner/affiliate/DBA/LLC.

I have also filed complaint with the Attorney General's Office of the State of California, consumer fraud and complaint division.  I will be doing the same for the AG of the State of Georgia.

I have also added complaints to their Google reviews.  The feedback I submit is as follows:

"They trick you into signing contracts that never let you out with huge fees for canceling. Their prices are not what they say they are and they don't tell you about hidden fees. The trainers quit or get fired so often you can't maintain a proper relationship. They lie and make promises to get your business, discourage you from reading the contract which you only find out later has a clause that says they do not honor verbal contracts made with their sales associates and managers.

When you cancel and are unable to pay fees, they threaten you with legal action, with destroying your credit and with interfering with your relationship with your local gym.

The worst company by far I have ever experienced. Additionally, they go by the name now "Custom Built Personal Training"

They are not members of the Better Busines Bureau and if you search for them you'll see why. An "F" rating, over 119 complaints, many not responded to. Including mine!

Stay away from this company! Do not fall into their trap!"

In summation, combine my original complaint with this new information to help paint a picture of how these two (really one) corporation(s) operate from the top and senior management on down to regional management and right down to your local trainer.

Stay far away from this company, please, do yourself the favor!
