The company epitomizes the incompetence of outsourcing. I've called these people three times and gotten a different answer each time I call. Finally, I call the local office (call number four) and they say that they've received my request. I sent in my release of information form, which was later stamped received January 13. I get my form back in the mail with another form, but they sent the wrong form for me to fill out, so I have to fax back my original form with a schedule of fees that I had to get myself.
I know that states regulate how much these thieves can charge for a page of medical records, but .88 cents is not reasonable. It's taken me more than a month of hassling with these people to get anywhere. I'm so mad at the medical center I use for contracting with these imbeciles. It's been nothing but frustration. The whole situation started because a horrible doctor ran $200 worth of HPV tests on me without my knowledge using my pap smear specimen, just to get back at me for being poor and in retaliation to a situation where my husband was ejected from the same office. Because I complained about these unwarranted/unauthorized tests and had the office's "clinical nurse manager" reverse the charges, I was ejected from that horrible office, and now I have to go through these hoops just to get my medical records, but that's another complaint.
I don't know if there's a way to get around these medical record mizers, but I reccomend you try before you get stuck in this bureaucratic mire.

Well, I finally received my medical records on the 29th after faxing in my second request on February 2nd, which was received on the 6th. I believe this situation is really the unprofessional doctor's fault, but never the less. My records were incomplete and inaccurate at a cost of $22 and change.
There is is least one duplicate page at a $1 per print out and the recent test results, which were the only ones I want and need are missing completely. I'm pretty much giving up on this because I've already spent the past 60 days trying to recover my records, and this whole situation is causing my great stress and consternation.
Based on my conversation with the folks at the laboratory, who will only release records to the doctor, I understand that it's illegal for physicians to withhold my personal medical records, which is exactly what is going on. I've had such a horrible experience with the Vanderbilt Clinic that I am sick and tired of the situation and don't know who to complain to further without wasting my time and getting even more stressed out. I have a complaint for the Department of Health that is partially finished, but I'm reluctant to send it off should the doctor somehow cancel my oral contraceptive prescription in retaliation.
BTW, I had to call the local office and the corporate HealthPort office nearly a dozen times just to get the records delivered. During my last call, the operator had to email the auditing department to get any action. HealthPort is a total waste of time and money. Plus there is no way to address issues with the physician's office because they are separate entities. If possible, I recommend that other individuals have their records transferred directly to their new physician to avoid fees associated with the worthless results.
