I am a former employee of the LA Weight Loss Group.

I thought there were a few things that might help people avoid being ripped off.

1. You do NOT have to pay for the service upfront. There are payment plans available. None of them will be a $7 weekly payment, but there are others available. They want you to pay as much as possible to keep you tied to the program fot the longest amount of time possible.

2. The girls there are NOT your friends. They don't like you. No matter how friendly they may seem , they have one objective and that is to seperate you from your money at every opportunity.

3. Read EVERYTHING before you sign ANYTHING. Do NOT sign up the same day. Sleep on it for 24 hours before you do anything. They are trained to stir up emotions related to your weight and use that to sell you.

4. The LA Lites are NOT mandatory. If you want to do them, then buy small mini bulk packages maybe spending $100 or $200 at a time. You will save some money. Do NOT buy the $1200 lifetime packages. If you leave the program you WILL NOT get that money back. BEWARE if you do NOT use the LITES you will not be eligible for a refund if you don't lose your weight.

5. Do NOT buy the breakfast bars and snacks. Similar items are available at your local grocery store at a fractin of the price. FOr example, the Cereal Bars from LAWL are almost identical to NutriGrain bars but 60% cheaper.

6. The women (typically) are NOT medical professionals. The white lab coats are designed to make you feel more confident. They have no medical training. The answers you are getting are all pat answers taught by the company. YOu will find that the answer to every problem will typiclally be a product purchase of some type.

I hope this helps

I am a current member of LA Weight Loss in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania. I am on the maintance program, but something happened to me that I want everyone to know about. Not only for the sake of those who need to beware, but to praise one person in particular that fell victim to this company, the best employee they ever had.

I was charged illegally on something they use as a finance plan called Care Credit. I was told when I signed up that I need to get it as a "Back UP" if I ever needed anything.

I came in to only loose 20 pounds, but that was important to me, I am 50 and weight creeps on you as you get older.

Anyway, the manager at the time started charging my account and other's accounts and doing this without anyone knowing. Rumor has it throughout the center, is that she took a combo of up to $50k and still counting. Here is the bad part, they write your Care Credit # on the front of your chart, and everyone can see it. The bad part is, it took me 7 months to get the charge off my account-UNREAL!!!!

The only person that helped me was the Assistant Manager, her name is Shannon. She was fantastic, she kept me calm and focused on my weight loss, and she also held it together. The terrible part is, they fired the manager and left this poor girl there all by herself and threw her to the wolves. She had no help, her superiors told her to act like nothing was wrong, she worked 6 days a week open to close, never complained and always had a smile on her face. They expected her to run the center, not getting a promotion and caused her to go into intestinal failure where she had to have surgery for a blockage because the stress got to her.

You know that everytime I ask her superiors about her they treat her as though she was garbage. She was sweet, kind and understanding.

I think they made a big mistake because she was not offered her job back and they quickly replaced her with people who are personality-less and have no heart.

So beware whether you are an employee or a client, I tell all my friends about my experience and believe me, the only reason why I am still there is because I only have a few months left.

P.S.--after my card was charged without my knowledge, I stopped using the LA Lites and I began to take weight off faster and my cravings went away!!!!!

I still work there, gathering info. They want to promote me since I do make my goals. They are near impossible to make and you need to sell to every person- there is no heart here. I am too caring and the place does scams like double charge for LA lites- they see the client as stupid and laugh behind their back when they get a live one to buy a "bulk". GO for the case, year worth. NEVER will you get a refund NEVER.
The "trained" counselors are commission sales people ONLY, make you weak and take advantage and watch your credit card- never know. DO NOT DO CARE CREDIT you will end up paying 22% interest. The saying is MAKE EM CRY THEY WILL BUY!!

Find a nutrtionist and follow them join --- stay out of LA WL.. I have received an email from
PRIMETIME who are doing an investigation of them.
KEEP AN EYE OUT.

I want to tell you what it is like to attend the Dubuque center.

1) You are correct we do have an interest free payment program that helps those who cannot pay for it all at once. Yes it does help with commitment when paid up front but we do not want to hide the payment option (goodness knows i would need it)

2) You are correct we are not there to be friend with the clients but the truth is we do become quite close to them. The only way to be able to address their needs is to know their life. My only objective is to get my clients to their goals (it's very rewarding)

3) You should read Everything because it's always important to know what you are signing. Sleeping on it isn't a bad suggestion but to be honest when a person goes home they are thinking about the cost and not the benefit and tend to talk themselves out of a good thing! But if you have to think about it no problem we will set an appointment for your return and it's your choice to return or cancel.

4) The LA Lites are not mandatory, we tell you that in the consultation. But we do know they provide the best results for various reason (which are discuss during and after the consult) If you medically cannot do the lites you do get a refund!

5)We no longer have the breakfast snacks and granola bars. So no concerns there.

6) The counselors are there to educated and counsel you. The information we recieve is from weeks of training and is current and uptodate. Yes, all of our products were designed with client concerns in mind so that's why they are suggested. Wouldn't you be upset if we had a product to help and never told you about it?

All I am saying everyones experiences with companies are different. We want nothing for the best for our clients. Consultations are free try it for yourself!
