In Novemebr 2006 I signed up for a family membership that was for three people. My older son and his girlfriend made up the three.
In February 2007 they broke up. I then cancelled the girlfriend's membership and added my younger son as the third member.
In October 2007 I called to cancel the membership and was advised I had to meet with the manager to do this. I made an appointment went to the gym..no manager around....but the staff at the reception desk took my information and told me that the membership was cancelled but that it took up to 60 days to stop the direct debit.
I had to eventually put a stop payment because the payment kept coming out of my account.
Now here we are in August 2009 and my younger son received a notice that he is $2,024.76 in arrears and payment must be made before August 20, 2009 or it will go to a collection agency.
In February 2007 when I added my son to the family plan is was under 18 years of age.
The accounting or lack of accounting should not be allowed to continue and it is very distressing to me and my son. It took five phone calls to talk to the person who sent the letter and even after a lengthy explanation I was told that someone will have to pay the bill.
I talked to a representative today and was told that she will forward the information to head office and to call back in a week to see if my cacellation has been accepted.
