I have had Landlords insurance for 25+ years with the same company, American Family, with maybe one or two small claims. Now I have a tenant that severely vandalized my house and I discovered they recently changed all Landlord policys to $5,000 deductible!!

My damages are over $20,000.00. Guess what their adjustor said? Total damage was $4,975.00 (what a coincidence, just short of the deductible) and he was "doing me a favor." So I get nothing.

They have ripped me off on my car insurance repeatedly, all the time pretending to be my friend. Never mentioning additional benefits that I am entitled to. This is the WORST COMPANY!!!!!!

Bad Service Isn't Beneficial For Either Party

AUTHOR: Pugi00 - Sun Prairie (U.S.A.)

Insurance Companies cannot increase deductibles just because they feel like it. You have to agree to the change or specifically request it. If they have increased their minimum deductible requirements and you're unhappy with it, you have the option to cancel your policy and take it somewhere else.

If they did change your deductible without your consent, I would notify the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance. File a complaint and let them investigate it on your behalf to try and come up with a solution. They are usually very detailed in their investigations and get them done in a timely manner.

In regards to damages....did you have prior damage to the residence? Are you upgrading any of the damaged property that you're replacing? I'm just trying to help you think of why they wouldn't be paying for the full amount of damages.

It's unfortunate that you feel your agent doesn't discuss your policy with you in regards to coverage and deductibles. If you're unhappy with your agent, ask to be transferred to another agent in your area with a better reputation for customer service.

Hope this helps!
