I am an aspiring model and actress and saw a great opportunity to get paid for what I enjoy doing. I love to model the clothing of awesome designers on the runway and get paid for it. I'm not looking to be famous. I just like the profession.

Well, I was hired to be in one of the National Supermodels Co. fashion shows which was held on November 15, 2008. I found it a little strange that the rehearsals were not paid, but I decided to test it out anyway. The location was a very shady part of town, but all the people seemed very nice. The training/rehearsal was a little unconventional, but I figured, every show is different. They also told me that I had to sell at least 10 tickets to the show to get paid more than the base pay of $20, but I was guaranteed pay of $20 for the show. That was a little strange, but I didn't mind helping out a growing company, so I continued.

Their communication was horrible, and I never knew what was going on. They barely ever responded to emails and never returned phone calls. They never mentioned what we would be wearing or who the designers would be. They told me I had to be at a photo shoot two days in advance, but I had to work! They also did not tell me everything I needed to bring to the show and got mad at me for it. I was expected to bring some of my own clothing for the show! And, while I was wearing one of the dresses they provided for me to model, another model pointed out to me that she had worn that same dress in their last show! I was totally appalled!

So, then I asked them if their shows were more about the models or the clothing, because I was very confused. They said their shows are all about showing off the models! What kind of fashion show is that?! It was a theatrical performance, and I was so embarrassed that I had invited people to come see it. They had singers, a mime, and some other performances in-between scenes, which was pretty strange for a fashion show. I have heard of stuff like this before, but this was over the top.

I modeled in the show and was never payed a dime for it! Mr. Robinson promised that I would be paid for being a model in the show, and I signed a contract stating that I would get paid. However, I have still not seen a paycheck that they promised to mail to me. There are also many other models involved that were never paid.

My goal here is to warn all aspiring models to not waste your time with this company. They have lots of big promises and high hopes, but they do not follow through. And, the most horrible part about all of this is they say they are Christians and use God to make themselves look trustworthy! The certified model training they offer (not for free) is BAD training by people who have no business training models in the first place.

I have been professionally trained in the past, and NSC told me to do things that my professional teachers would have laughed at! If you are serious about being a model, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME with this company! They will give you a lot of false hopes and promises, not pay you, and teach you some horrible techniques that would get you fired in the real world.

Do not be a victim of this scam or others like it out there, and there are a lot of them nowadays. If something seems fishy, it probably is. Be careful! If you are desperate for fame, people like this will find you and burn you. Don't let it be you!

NSC New Location

They are no longer meeting at Southwest Center Mall, but instead they are meeting at a Hilton Garden Inn Suites in Dallas. It's kind of funny how when you look at their site, all of the professional-looking pictures are NOT their own models! They do have pictures up from their last show, but I'm talking about the really good pictures that look like a photographer from LA took them. Like on the "most viewed" and "event offering" pages for example. I've never seen any of the people on the "new faces" page. I wonder where they copied and pasted those from? There is also an interesting picture on the "casting call" page. One of the pictures says "Fashion Fights Poverty" in the background. I know they are NOT affiliated with that organization! I wonder where they got all of the pictures on the NSC Gives Foundation page. Wow. They have their own foundation now?! I wonder where that money goes?!

The posters they hung in their mall location were also not their own models. Strange. Why wouldn't they take awesome pictures of their own models to hang up? Why aren't they able to show you a good solid portfolio of their models actually getting REAL work?! The answer? They are not a real agency! How do you get the real big paying modeling jobs if you are not a registered and licensed modeling agency? Beats me! They create their own fake work, get a photographer to come take pictures of you, and then charge you for your own pictures! Just look at their website! There is a link for "buy pictures" on the left about halfway down the page. We never got copies of these pictures like they promised, but you can buy them! Geez what a rip-off!

Oh, guess what? They are hiring now! And they are going to take a company cruise this year! Maybe that's where the charity money will go. They can't pay their own models, so how are they going to pay their staff?!

Ok, that's enough of an update for now.
