Premier Financial Securities Inc mailed in a blank envelope a winning final notification for a shoppers sweepstakes prize of $250,000.00 US Dollars. Enclosed in the envelope was a check in the amount of $4,890.00 with instructions to contact them before depositing the check. The letter also stated the taxes due on the winnings is $2,985.00 to be paid either by moneygram or western union. Now how could they possibly know how much US tax is due? And I thought that, if this were legitimate, then I would be responsible for filing the taxes myself, not the company. The letter also notes "Please do not attempt to use this check until you call." That was the final signal that this a definite scam and fraud. I am so glad I checked the internet before calling these scam artists.

No legitimate lottery or Sweepstakes will send you a check to pay taxes with - just to have you return the money to them. It is taken from the winnings and sent directly to the IRS before you get your check
A lot of people do not have any common sense and assume it is valid. They never check it out first. Then come to the complaint boards about how they were scammed. When they allowed it to happen because they did not bother to check it out first.
